Need speakers for my computer/ps3. It needs to accept an optical in as I hook my ps3 up to my 24 inch monitor and it has no audio out so i need to use the optical. I dont really care if its just stereo or surround but i DO require that it has some power and can play music loud and bassy. I used to be really into car audio so I have some knowledge of sound systems but I'm not trying to spend alot, as little as possible to be honest. So a speaker system with multiple inputs (would be great if it even accepted computer input/stereo/optical but not necessary) and some punch. Thanks.

Dont have one necessarily. Just as cheap as possible. A nice mix of quality/price. sorry for not being more precise. not really sure what my options and price ranges are

Well the Logitech Z-5500s have a decent amount of inputs. As far as punch, its got a bit of bass bloom, I wouldn't call it "punchy" since its not particularly fast bass, but its loud.

That sounds pretty good. I jsut really dont want speakers that sound "hollow" like the bass just has no depth. if you know what I mean, I'll look at them, any other ideas?

An alternative is HTIB--home theater in a box. Just goto a local Best Buy, Frys, or Costco. They carry millions of them. Just find one that you like. There really isn't a diamond in the rough here at this price range, just whats passable and whats worse than passable.

Hrmm, Only thing I'm concerned about is the deskspace. with a seperate reciever etc its going to take up a lot of room!

You can go with a Sonic Impact T-amp, Dayton APA150 (or Emotiva's version) amp, and not all HT speakers are big. You can get fairly small speakers with 5.25" woofers. I would definitely not go under 4.5" woofers. Some of those will give you good bass (and some will not), but if you want a lot, consider a Dayton SUB100.
