Alright, so I will be getting the following components:

- Intel i7 920
- GTX 260 (2 x in SLI)
- Asus P6T Deluxe v2
- 6 gb xms3 (non dominator) ddr3 1600
- ocz vertez 120
- WD caviar black 1 TB
- maybe later a caviar green 1TB
- corsair hx850
- I plan to cool CPU with the Noctua NH-U12P se1366, and I would like an overclock to 3.6-3.8

anywho...requirements for a case are the following:

- window
- good cooling
- most important : easy cable management
- I had a computer with LED fans...and I'm bored...so if the case has LEDs, I will change fans
- black
- simple design that is not too over the top (i.e. HAF 932, or most coolermasters - not insulting the cases, just not my look)
- as silent as i can get, while still running an oc'ed cpu and dual gpus (reasonably...)

alright, so I was really into the silverstones tj-09 and tj-10, but the cable management sucks, so that's out of the question.

to be honest, I have looked at every single case, and cannot find many that looks good to me (i.e. fits all the criteria). I am left with 2 nice alternatives:
- silverston ft-01
- antec 1200

I am trying to determine if I can run dual GPUs and an overclocked CPU with the FT-01, as there doesn't seem to be much cooling from 3 fans, and I can't really replace the 2 180mm fans with faster ones (they don't exist!). on the other hand, I have read that the cooling on the ft-01 is pretty close to that of the 1200. the 1200 to me, is not the nicest looking case, and it seems that it is very loud. If i would go with this option, i would definitely change the fans to some noctuas (but would the fans still be adjustable with the case switches?)..

lastly, another option is the new corsair 800d, but the thing is...i'm sorry but I really REALLY do not see this case having very good air circulation with only the bottom being open for intake...i believe it's truly designed around their new "watercooling" cpu cooler (H-50)

what do you guys think...any opinions are appreciated. I am personally more swayed towards the ft-01 at the moment

FT-01 imo, mainly since the Antec 1200 looked and felt cheap when I checked it out at Fry's. It was built solid with a good layout and all, but it just plain looked cheap.

I got the antec 1200 and cable management is really easy to achieve. Just swap the fans for Noctua ones which are incredibly quiet!

The fan filters do their job well too, My old Antec 900 was a nightmare to clean, the 1200 collects virtually no dust.

Corsair.
FT-01 is just plain small and 1200 lacks E-ATX depth.

what about issues with the ft-01's bottom psu filter...some say it doesn't work with all psus and you need to remove it. can anyone attest to it working with a corsair hx-series psu?

Why replace the antec 1200 fans? They arent that noisy at full setting, and the fact that you can adjust their speed is great, unlike most fans.

Edit: Oh, you dont want LEDS? Probably be worth it money wise to just remove them from the fans in the 1200.

They are actually quite noisy at the highest setting, but the case has so many fans on it that it's unnecessary to run them at that setting. The low settings are extremely quiet, I keep all of my fans there except for the 200mm top fan which I run at the medium setting. It moves a lot of air, plus I keep the case under my desk and use it as sort of an ottoman when I'm not doing anything attention-intensive. The top fan keeps my legs cool in the summertime.

That said, the Corsair 800D is probably a better case. It's probably also considerably more expensive, estimates placing it at around $300 at least as opposed to the 1200 which will run you $150ish.

I know you said you didn't want an over the top coolermaster case, but the CM 690 has a really sleek elegant look to it in my opinion. It is also very roomy inside and great on cable management. You can pick up the side panel window for $25 bringing your total case cost to around $100 depending on what specials you can find.

I thought about getting the Antec 1200 but ultimately went with the CM 690 based on price point as well as appearance, solidity of construction, and great reviews.

um... maybe i'm wrong but it seems to me like your going to most like a lian li case? or the cheaper rocketfish version??? simple look, not big on the flashy lights, I hear some of them get great airflow.... I'd look through those and pick one you like the most if I was you. sounds like your going to have a great system rigged up :)

The corsair 800D seems to be 100% what I need, but the (to me) idiotic idea they have of pushing air from the side, through the hard drive cage, to the other side and through the cable mess to leave from the back...is really stupid. Also, there is almost no room on the bottom for correct air intake, and there is no cooling solution for the graphics cards...It just makes my blood boil because this is a perfect case, but they just really really wanted to create it based on their h-50 cooler, which INTAKES air from the back of the case...so that the top can exhaust it. I hope this changes...but whatever.

anyways, for the coolermaster 690, the whole perforated look doesn't really suit me. I can take a little of that, like in the 1200, but the 690 is a little too much (for me!)

the lian-li cases are perfect, but their cable management is not as good as other cases, and they have no windows (but their ease of use and quality is unmatched). of the lian-li cases, i like the a-77 and the pc-p50, but there are no windowed side-panels that lian-li sells that are compatible with these (unless i'm blind?). the PC-7F & PC-60F (with windows) are too small for me.

As for the correction to the FT01, i'm glad they fixed those 2 issues, but the top filter is still problematic, and the cooling may not be sufficient with only 1 fan...

Any other opinions/recommendations?

A77's basic framework is same as in A70/71/7010/7110 so same side panels should fit and here picture is showing insides of A77:
http://www.lian-li.com.tw/v2/en/pro...ex=269&cl_index=2&sc_index=29&ss_index=73&g=f
Also old PC-70 case looks similar sized and someone has used W-75 side panel made for it in A7x frame:

(you might want to ask Lian Li about that)

In A77 you could jam cables between side panel and 5.25" bays. In other spacious full towers functional cable management is about jamming and tying them.

The low settings are extremely quiet.
On the scale of average Homo Sapiens Urbanus...
In SPCR forums they wish Antec sold cases without fans because TriCools being acoustically mediocre.

At the lowest setting there are honestly times when I don't hear the system at all. I have another 49CFM scythe S-flex in the case and it is louder than all of the other fans. It probably draws more air, but quantity over quality seems to be this case's forte. Now, at medium and high settings... they are loud. My 4890 gets MUCH louder than everything else under load at even 40% fan speed.

I really can't see how they would complain about these fans at their low speeds. Higher than that, fine, but while they aren't silent, I can't hear them with a pair of open-air ATH-AD900s on.
