Hey guys,
I am coming from the programming forum with a request. I need people with Pentium 4 Northwoods to download my program and post the timing results.
The reason I make this request is that it seems my program does not run well on the Pentium 4, but to verify this I need to get some timing reports on the latest and greatest.
Here at work I have a Pentium 4 Willamet paired with Rambus memory. The timing reports indicates that the Athlon 64 is more than 2x faster per clock cycle. Since my Athlon 64 is overclocked to 2350mhz, this means I'd need a Pentium 4 at about ~4.8ghz to beat it.
What I want to see how is well the Northwood handles the program. How well it scales with clock speed. How much faster it is per clock than the Willamet and how it compares to my Athlon 64. Since I do not have access to a Northwood, I am asking you guys to help me out (and not to start a flame war about which is faster...)
When you run the program, click on "View/Performance Data". A little window shows up with a graph in the lower left corner that displays the number of clock cycles it took the processor to execute that section of the pipeline. If you have the time, please post your results and processor type.
Thanks
