I need some cooling advice...

OK, here is my situation. My CPU is running at 67C with the case off while running Prime95. It runs about 71C with the case on. I need someone to recommend a cooling solution. I don't want to buy a new case, but I am willing to buy a new heatsink and fan combination (I am using the retail fan that came with it). Here are my system specs...

AMD Barton 2600+ running at 2.3GHz 2Volts
512MB DDR
MSI-KT6V motherboard
etc...

Thanks in advance for your help. I am thinking about buying a si-97 and a 92mm fan, but I don't want a loud fan and I don't know which one to get. I also don't know if the si-97 will work on my board. Will I have to take the motherboard out to mount it??

The SI-97 is a great choice. I checked thermalright's compatibility list and your motherboard is in the clear. As for the fan, I would reccommend this one http://www.svc.com/pahywabefb.html

it is currently out of stock right now but it is normally about $6 and its a great fan.

I have never installed this heatsink so I can't give you any tips but I did look up a few reviews and saw that it does not require you to remove your motherboard to install but it can be slightly difficult to install.

2v running through your chip?? No wonder it's so damned hot. Can't run it any lower?

The Volcano 7 and the Aeroflow units ARE loud. They are not near as efficient as a Swiftech or Thermalright copper heatsink with a decent 92mm fan mounted on it. Not to mention it will dissipate heat around the outside of your CPU socket as well.
 
liquid cooling wouldnt be a bad idea. 71c is way, way too hot.

how many case fans do you have?
 
I've got the case off right now and it's running about 67C. It idles around 45C. That is a huge increase. It is showing me that this stock heatsink/fan just can't do the job. What do you guys think? And water cooling is not an option at this point.

Nothing is wrong with getting a si-97. I just don't know which 92mm fan to get for it. Can someone suggest one? I don't want a loud fan.

Stiffy, thanks for all your help. However, the fan has to come from Newegg (it's a long story). Would you be able to recommend one from Newegg that is better than the Zalman that I linked to? Thanks in advance for your help, I appreciate it.
