I'm just getting in the last of my parts to build my new system.

It's going to be an SLI rig, and the last thing I need to order is my monitor.

I've always had a CRT monitor with my previous systems, but they are getting scarce.

The stores here locally have maybe 2 - 3 to choose from (most are generic brands I haven't even heard of), and online retailers like ZipZoomFly don't have any.

What are some primo choices nowadays in the way of a 19in CRT?

I'm also intersted in purchasing an LCD (would be my first), but I've heard about the "shaky screen glitch" and that worrys me.

Has this issue been resolved, or is it only related to certain LCD brands/models?

I've been looking at these LCDs, but I'm not really that educated on what to look for.

Alienware 20.1" LCD HERE

Samsung SyncMaster 213T HERE

Dell UltraSharp 2001FP HERE

And recently I've noticed alot of buzz in here over the Dell 2405FPW that comes out next month. Altough I'm not sure I would care for a widescreen, but... Maybe.

I will be using this system mainly for gaming.

Any help would be awesome.

Thanks

Before you make a firm decision, you may want to consider 20-inch LCDs from Apple and HP. The Apple Cinema HD performs very well and it supports DVI now, so you can connect it to your PC using several graphics accelerators. HP also produces a fine LCD with more connectivity and positioning flexibility than Apple. Both 20-inch models go for less than $1000 on the street..

I personally went with a Viewsonic VP201S and I couldn't be happier. I looked at the Syncmaster 213T and discovered that it had a slower response time. So I didn't go with that.

The Apple Cinema display is a find LCD and I am sure you would be pleased with one were you to acquire one.

However I disagree on the HP comment a little bit. We've got some new LCD's from HP at my work and they are the WORST LCD's I've ever seen. They have what seems to be worse than a 25ms response time and worse yet they only came as analog VGA.

I am sure HP has some higher end models than those that are fine. But if you are seriously considering an LCD do some research on response times and other information. Especially if you intend to play games.
