Have found some identical super talent Ram on EBAY for £40.

I already have 2x1 gb. My question is, if I buy another 2x1, can I still use it all in dual channel?.

Thanks

yes, since both channels will be populated evenly ;)

though i generally advise against 4 sticks, if you're getting 4 of the same thing, it won't be an issue. you are getting a 64bit version of windows, right? :D

am going to hold off for another 6 months or so , but yeah will be getting 64 bit vista

I was urged to buy another 2 gig, after reading another thread on the forum that stated "....theres no excuse not to have 4gig unless you live in a a caravan"

Ram is sooo cheap at the moment. Bought mine and paid nearly £200 12-14 months ago, now its £40.

well, there's two sides to that..

yes, ram is unbelievably cheap right now, but i can honestly say that there are very few circumstances in which most people will benefit from having more than 2gb right now. however, that's not a good enough reason to not get more ram. as enthusiasts, we need to push the boundaries, so go for it :D

If they play games in Vista I believe they WILL see a benefit from more RAM. Or if they do lots of multitasking in vista, etc.

Assassins creed for the PC recommends 3GB of ram, so it's not like the 4 gigs is beyond all comprehension anymore. It will be useful in the coming months.

wow, intense. i guess crysis recommends >3gb when paired with vista as well. xp only "wants" 2gb, and i've never seen actual usage break 800mb when monitoring memory usage in game
