Hey guys, I have posted this problem before, but I need help with my computer. I am having major Power issues with my hard drives. I know my hard drives are working, they aren't defective or anything. This is my problem. I have 10 devices to plug into my computer. 3 optical drives, 5 Hard drives, and 1 light, and another light that is connected to 3 fans. On my power supply I only have 7 molex connectors. So I bought two splitters. Now I must be drawing too much power or something, because 3 hard drives are not working right. They aren't getting enough power I guess. Now, what do you guys seggest I do? Any ideas?

Get a new power supply? What kind do you have right now in your system?
 
Unless you have one hell of a power supply, you are asking too much.

You need a serious power supply for that thing.

Are the drives that aren't functioning on the splitter?

You have not told us what kind of system you have, so hard to diagnose. Running a high(er) end vid card with a thirsty CPU is going to tap that power supply but good.

I would also look in the BIOS to see what the voltage rails (values) are... see if the 12 volt is low.

I think a good PSU would solve it.

hmm, strange, my signature didn't show. Anyway, I have a Antec True480 Power supply. 480W. AMD Athlon XP 2500+, 3 sticks DDR, Radeon 9700 Pro, TV Wonder, USB 2.0 PCI Card, Sound blaster audigy, CDRW, DVD, DVDRW, 40GB, 60GB, 120GB, 2x80GB in Raid. Also, 2 cold cathode lights, and 4 fans. I believe my power supply should be able to handle it.

I did temporarily fix the problem. If I unplug the CDRW and DVD drives, everything works fine. I don't care too much about the DVD as eventually it will be going into another system, but I kinda did want my CDRW. Is my power supply powerful enough? Or should I plug it in different? What do you guys suggest?
 
I have just as much or more on my 480, and I don't have any problems. I think it's in your "splitter" myself.
