I have a Asus P5E3 Pro motherboard and GSKILL 2x2GB DDR3 1600 memory. If I put more than one stick of memory into the computer. I get memory errors in memtest and windows runs poorly. If I only run one stick, I do not get any memory errors. I have manually set my cas latency in the BIOS. Anyone know what could be the problem? Is it memory or mobo?

could be a bad memory slot in the mobo if you've tested both sticks and they both work

it sounds like you did do that, so it could be a bad slot

if one stick works but the other doesn't, then there's your answer

I have tried the slots. I ran the test and switched them and i also moved the sticks all around but anytime its got more than 1 stick in, it fails.

hmmm that's rather weird

sounds like a mobo issue definitely

You can use up to 1.65V and remain within warranty, I'll be surprised if you need to though unless overclocking.

Are these the timings you tried? 7-8-7-24
Check to see if the memory is getting hot, it should only get warm.
Can you borrow some other ram to see if the problem persists?

Are you running the RAM timings using Auto in the BIOS settings or are you manually setting the timings?

Have you tried resetting the BIOS settings so that the RAM kit runs at the BIOS' Auto or default setting?

Loosen the timings to 8-8-8-24 and up the voltage to 1.65. See if that helps.

I have tried 7-8-7-24, 8-8-8-24 and 9-9-9-24 and get errors. I have some DDR3 1333 i am going to put in and run to see if its the mobo today. The BIOS does not recognize the right timings and i did run them for a bit with the BIOS auto but still get a lot of program crashes. If i put the DDR3 1333 in and it passes im going to RMA the memory.

So an update, the DDR3 1333 passed memtest but windows wouldnt load. I ran it loose and it loaded windows but hard locked soon after. I updated the BIOS from 504 to 505 today and ran the 1600 memory again. Memtest ran for 3 hours with no error and before it would error in 15 mins. I am going to run another memtest overnight but i think the new BIOS may have fixed it.

I had considered updating the BIOS before but the changelog did not say anything about fixing a memory issue so I hadnt yet.

Yah, sometimes the changelogs don't mention everything, but if you are having problems, a new BIOS is a good idea if you've tried many other things that didn't solve your problem.

UPDATE2:

BIOS update didn't fix it like i thought. asus said to update chipset as well and did that. Still having issues. I have posted on their forums and some other people with my same memory are having the same issue. I have given up on this motherboard and its lousy memory support. Newegg has accepted my RMA and waived the restocking fee. I got a MSI board coming today with a different chipset
