I'm looking for forums members recommendations with some experience or people that know what would be an AWESOME cooling solution to replace my Stock AM3 cooler that came with my X3 Rana 455 CPU.
Here's what I've done so far. I've unlocked the 4th Core which made my temps go from X3 temps of 20' idle to X4 temps 40's idles. After that I went trying to find the highest VCore and NB Voltage to get me into windows and run sum light benchmarking to see what this CPU is possibly capable of. I ended up being able to run it with Geekbench 64, and the Street Fighter 4 Built in Benchmark Which it ran through Ryu's fight then Cammy's, and then when in Chun Li's level I decided to ALT TAB to check temps and they were 5 Degrees above TJ max in COre Temp so I decided to close the app until I get a better cooling solution. My CPU is rated at 70 degrees TJ Max. So with this Overclock of 4.125 GHZ on an unlocked X3 to X4 I am seeing roughly an average of 63/65/67 Idle Temps and light gaming Benchmark Temps of 75.
My Goal would be to have idle temps of 20-25-30 less @ idle BUT at least 45 degrees idle is a must, and load 20-25-30. So my target range at minimum would equal 45 idle and 55 full load MAX I would ever want to see would be 60 with this setup, that''s what I'm hoping for. ANy ideas?
Lower temps than these would be nicer especially if there's an aftermarket fan that can do this, or maybe something like the H70 closed loop? I have only experience wiith fan heatsinks, but I'm not opposed to learning new things like watercooling solutions is an option for this if anyone can recommend me something that could get me the temps, @ a great price / performance aiming for that would be great.
Also I don't care about this CHip or MOBO that much I spent 78.99 on the chip new from Newegg and 89.99 on the mobo but I don't necessarily want to blow it up but at the same time I do want to see how [H]ard I can push this in the end
I just want to learn more about OC'ing and when really do CPU's blow One other thing I'm interested in is having this solution support AM3 CPU's, Sandy Bridge CPU's, and AM3+ CPU's but if there's one awesome solution only for AM3 then I will possibly get that one or wait for AM3+ /SB compatible cooling solution, but options are nice to have for later builds and that. So what is some great Coolers currently for SB/AM3/ or AM3+?
My real goal is to push this CPU as hard as I can and destroy it within 3-9 months and then move onto 6 Core E-Sandy Bridge or Bulldozer 8 Core and OC one of those CPU's with this new cooler and this new experiences in CPU OCing you guys recommend me and get a great OC on a 6 or 8 core chip that will last quite awile for me.
Oh yeah I was running my CPU VCore @ 1.5500V for this and 1.4000V North Bridge. With that kind of Voltage what does everyone think is the best solution? I have no idea if this is alot more than this chip can take or the motherboard can handle, and if this chip can easily take these volts with better cooling what do I need to pull this off? What is your opinions? Thanks for reading.
