Soo for a while now i considered upgrading my gpu and i found a MSI GeForce GTX750 Ti 2GB Twin Frozr OC Gaming and a Palit GeForce GTX750 Ti 2GB StormX Dual OC and i wanted to know which one is better
I have a 1280x1024 60hz monitor and a G3258 anniversary edition cpu
(noticed the bugdet build?)
Anyway i wanted a to know which would be good enough soo i can use to for the upcoming years since i dont buy a new gpu often. All i want is to keep that 60fps at reasonable settings(yet i dont care about graphics that much).
Maybe you have a good price/performance gpu in mind

AMD R9 290 or R9 290x used.

You need to buy AMD to futureproof for the upcoming years because NVIDIA is going to have trouble running DX 12 games.

The Palit has a higher overclock, though I don't know if it will make much of a difference at that resolution. If you could get it for the same price as the MSi then I don't see a reason to not go with it. Though right now the AMD R7 260X offers the best price->performance ratio. I'd recommend the XFX Double Disspation if you went that route, but I assume you live outside the US from the mention of Palit, so I could not recommend XFX in that case as they are said to have horrible warranty and support outside the US.

A R9 290 for 1280x1024?

Don't listen to this guy. The DX12 "issue" has been blown out of proportion. Go with whatever video card you want.

Yeah he actualy went a bit overboard with that 290x since we are talking about a 1280x1024
Also i wouldnt ever get a used gpu because most of the time is like used to death or it will die out in like a few weeks of use.
Also my budget is 160-180 euro soo i can go with something a bit better than those gpus

Either should be fine for 1280x1024 with that CPU. Personally, I would just pick the one with the highest factory clock speed since the price should be pretty close for either one. They will work pretty well for older titles at 1920x1080 (i.e. Skyrim), newer titles at 1366x768 (i.e. Dying Light). The gaming performance is pretty comparable to an old GTX 480, just with a hell of a lot less power draw and an extra half gig of VRAM.

I've purchased several gpu's off of [H] that have performed for years without issue.

Actualy yes i saw that on [H] since im new here and the prices here are ridiculously low.
Mostly because people upgraded their rigs and they quicksell their old parts for a quickbuck.

Obviously all of these will do the job fine for you, but for pure value..... and possible a better display later on...

For that budget, 270x is probably a much better buy than 750Ti. nVidia doesn't seem to support older generation card well (or they don't want to? lol), and indeed DX12 will improve AMD cards down the road, sometimes by a lot.

Yes exacly especialy with that power draw and low temperatures that comes with em since i will use that gpu for a good amount of time since i don't buy gpu's often soo i can get the most of it from the gpu i bought

That lack of support for older generations probably is because nvidia introduces alot of new technologies and architectures of gpus and they simply move on(like better AA support etc) soo there is competition going on.Also since amd rebrands the older gpu's (like the 300 series) it mean's they can't really stop supporting older generations since its based on them xD

I own a GTX 750 Ti. It has enough horsepower at 1920x1080 to run most new games at med to high, but I expect that to become less true as the years go on. Your resolution is much lower, so you'll be able to run today's games near-maxed, and high for several more years.

But if you want the best value card right now, it's the GTX 950. That card will max-out most games today at 1920x1080, and gets 90% of the performance of the GTX 960 for $40 less:

Yeah, it's $160 instead of $120, but we're talking 4-5 years viability versus 2-3 years.

If I may ask, what GPU are you upgrading from?

Or are you using the on board Intel GPU?

At these low resolution low budget builds, IMHO it really doesn't make sense to spend money on new GPU's.

When I built my stepsons rig last December, I just used a 768MB GTX460 I had kicking around.

I'd recommend low balling on eBay until you win something.
