Hi i just formated my PC, installed a fresh copy of everything with all the latest updates and patches (WinXP Pro SP2), and i keep getting error messages saying:

"Data Execution Prevention" To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program:
Name: Run a DLL as an App
Publisher: Microsoft Corporation

Occasionally i get the Dr.Watson error as well...

I have set the DEP setting in system properties to Turn on DEP for all programs....
Before it was set to Turn on DEP for essential..... i still getting the same msg.

I would appreciate it if someone could point me to the right direction, I also use Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0.2.621

Thanks,

Thanks,

That's probably your problem. Try uninstalling it (Not just disabling it) and see if it fixes it. Kaspersky has a bad reputation of screwing stuff up in Vista.

no apparently thats not the issue...
i think it may be .NET 3.0

What is in your event viewer?

Start/Run & Copy/Paste: "%SystemRoot%\system32\eventvwr.msc /s"

Application Log. Look for any red stop signs and post the contents (minus the hex code)

Kaspersky causes serious low-level kernel issues with Vista. Disabling it will not resolve the issues - it must be uninstalled.

Seriously - with Kaspersky installed, you cannot "copy" more than 16384 files before a reboot. You cannot install certain device drivers. There are many more issues and I strongly recommend uninstalling it ASAP.

i formated my PC again.... it fixed the issue...

i personally think it was .NET 3.0
cause i avoided installing that (just installed .NET 2.0 for ATi's CCC)
