I just can't this thing at a good temperature at full load. Here are my specs:

Setup:

Intel C2D E6600
Gigabyte DQ6
Generic g.skill 1gb (2x512mb) DDR2-533

Cooling:

Zalman 9500 AT 2

Thermaltake Mambo case with 4 additional fans 3 x 120mm (Front, back and one above my cd-rom bay that I put in there), and 1 80mm side case fan.

Overclock currently:

9 x 333 = 2999mhz or so..
Ram is sitting at 667 mhz.

Temperature:

Idles at 46° C with EIST enabled.
Full load temperature with Orthos is 62-65° C
Full load temperature with Prime95 is 61° C

I have taken the cpu and hs/fan out to make sure they are getting good contact and they are, so I did not see a need for lapping either one... both are very flat and mate good.

This processor has more in it if I got different memory, but I am concentrating on the temperatures right now as it does no good to overclock more currently if I cannot get very stable temperatures at 3ghz.

So please someone give me suggestions!

I think it might be caused by the voltage increase.. the computer will not run 3ghz at anything lower than 1.4 - 1.45v .. I have tried to make it run at lower voltage but it just will not.

I think normal vcore on my board is 1.325 or something like that.

I am using Core Temp since everyone says to use it and it gives me the readings in the first post.

I checked with Speedfan, and the Gigabyte EasyTune 5 software and they read similar at 34° C at idle.. and about 53-54° at full load with orthos and prime95.

I honestly think Core Temp is wrong and I know it reads the temperature differently but it almost has to be wrong since I am getting similar temps using EasyTune and Speedfan as everyone else is..

What is the RPM on the HSF? Is it constant or does it throttle up when running Orthos?

Core temps reads from the diodes in the processor. The rest read from the motherboard. That is why core temp reads higher.

Your temps are fine.

Just slightly higher at load than mine.

REMEMBER, CoreTemp IS A NEW PROGRAM for Core2 that reads temps directly on the core, so they are going to be higher than most people have seen in the past. If you look at your SpeedFan / EasyTune / etc... temps they would be more in line with what peopel call normal temps.

No, I disabled the fan control so it runs at 2660 rpm all the time, it fluctuates but only by 10 or 20 rpm.

well the speedfan temosounds about right.
try managing your case flow, too many intakes and not enough exhust maybe?
i turned the side intake in my case to an exhust and it helped a bit.i also have 2 intakes in the front,so i figured 3 in and only 1 out was not good.
