Looking for a good antivirus program for a computer that doesn't have internet access. The computer it's going on is business only. Hopefully the choices are not resource hogs also.
Since its a business, get NOD32. You will have to do manual updates via a flash drive.
That being said, how is this machine even going to get a virus? Unless your constantly putting random flash drives and CD's in it, i can't see anything really bad happening.
This computer is mounted on a computer rack in a truck. Unless you work in the oilfield, don't even try picturing it...trust me. This vehicle never sees internet via wireless and/or LAN so you are correct in that it should never have virus issues. However, every time it is used, we use a thumbdrive for pulling saved files from it. At some point, someone put a "dirty" thumbdrive in there and now there's a trojan that pops up anytime you insert the drive. So now it's infecting everything we connect to the computer. Using On-Demand Scanner on my laptop with infected thumbdrive connected it comes up with:
Name - ctfmon.exe
In Folder - e:\Recycled
Detected As - Fake Recycled
Detection Type - Trojan
But since you've got an unknown number of dirty thumbdrives floating around, you're going to need an active anti-virus on that computer, ideally one that you could update every month or so via thumbdrive. I'm not sure which one is most conducive to periodic updates by thumbdrive and will let others comment on that.
