Hey Guys,

By mistake i bought this Compaq Presario and aprox. 1 Year ago and already have a problem and need help.

For some reason my cooler doesnt stop and runs the whole time while i am useing it
and it scares me a little bit.

I know that i still have guarantee on it but i bought it in mexico and it will be a pain in the bud to contact them over there...

Do you have any solutions for my problem or advices?
 
its supposed to. If it wasnt on when you use it then it would over heat and die. Unless I am reading your post wrong and it wasn't on all the time and now is. If that is the case. You got dust and need to open it up and clean it out.
 
I vote get a can of compressed air and blow your cooler. If you're nice about it, it might even give you a tip :p
 
depending on what laptop manufacture it is.. and what processor it is.. some will turn off but only when the temp is below 35C which is rare as hell for a laptop.. but the fan speed should change depending on the temp of the processor.. usually will sit at 25% idle.. go to 50% at around 55-60C then 75% around 70C and full speed around 75C this mostly counts for intel.. for AMD the numbers are a little different.. but i figure ya get the point..
 
Not knowing the model number I can only guess, but there has been identified a manufacturing issue with Nvidia graphics chips used in a lot of laptops that causes premature failure due to heat cycling. Many manuf slipped in an "update" that now runs the laptop cooling all the time. So if you have been applying the factory updates to the machine this is one possible explanation.

HOWEVER, blowing the dust out of the thing is a very very very good idea regardless and if there is evidence of significant dust build up around the vent grills etc. I would consider taking it to a shop certified to do warranty work (not that it will be covered but your warranty will not be voided) and have it opened up and cleaned really well if you can find someone that would do it fairly cheap ($50 would be about right).
