I need a power supply for 2x 6870, needs to be "price effective".

Jorona is correct. In order to give you an adequate answer full specs are required. Price effective is a relative word. A lot of issues with rigs stem from not having an efficient power supply. If anything, it would make more sense to save money towards a more reliable psu then cheap out on it. Same goes for mobo, gpu, and psu.
I always take the stance of - get the biggest, most stable PSU you can afford that has high USER ratings (not professional reviews b/c those are tainted sometimes IMO).
Its better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it I think. So, not sure what your PSU budget is, but I would start there and then start looking at the PSU's in that price range. Srama1080 is correct as well. The best thing you could do is ensure you have a stable and reliable PSU. I have swapped motherboards, video cards, and all kinds of hardware only to find it was because of the PSU. So do not go cheap on a PSU, it will save you a ton of troubleshooting and "wtf" issues. My personal suggestion would be a LEPA G1600 and unless your building something like Frank N Stein, you will never get close to using that much power, but you can rely on the fact it will always be able to produce what you need and has the headroom to do it.
Best of luck on your search...........
