Welp, I've done it. I've officially run out of room in my case and I've decided it's time for a new one. After installing my XP-120 and Cooler Master Cool Drive 6 this evening I've run out of room.

I'm short on cash. So, what I'm looking for is a case with a crazy amount of room for under $100.

I don't care if it has a window, doesn't have one it doesn't matter to me because I'm probably going to end up changing it's design anyway. So, I'm just looking for a case that's large. I don't care how it looks or who it's made by as long as it's big.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks. :)

Got any suggestions?

I like those Chieftech server cases. But if you've got some suggestions for aluminum that'd be great.

You think I can change those 80mm fan slots for 120mm?

Right now I'm running five 120mm fans on my old case and it's smaller than these cases but not by much.

My case is 8"w X 16"d X 17"h, do they make cases bigger than what I've got now?

What does 205mm(W) x 670mm(H) x 470mm(D) translate into inches? Cause this is how big the Dragon is.

for under $130, you can get the coolermaster praetorian in black or silver. All made from aluminium alloy and is a excellent case with kick ass looks:D. I have one aswell.:)

The Praetorian is narrower than the case I have.

I'm looking for a case that's at least 9" wide by 19" deep by 18"/19" high. It's probably a crazy size and no one makes it. The Praetorian is close but it's too narrow.

I dont think you can change the 80's to 120's, but would i would do is get the 4 80's, and put a 120mm or 150mm blowhole up top.

Why don't you think I can? I have a Dremel and a few hole saws.

And so far the Chieftec Dragon is the biggest one I've seen, it's 21"h X 18.6"d X 8"w . I think I can make this work. I'd still like to find one that is a little wider, the height and depth of the Dragon is perfect but I'd like to do better wire management and I don't think it's wide enough to hide the wires behind the MoBo.

Anyone on here use the Dragon and if so, how do you like it? Were you able to hide your wires fairly well? Add larger fans? Is it a good case?

I got rid of my dragon because..

1) That grill design on the front makes a lot of noise with faster fans.
2) The case is ugly, the door is just a pita to open all the time.
3) Mine was steel so it was super heavy.. however I guess now they are aluminum.

Anyway, I ended up with a Coolermaster ATCs .. I bought it a few years ago.

EDIT: My case is probably too small for your needs.

The 2 80's on the back dont have enough space around them to 120s, you might be able to make 1 x 120, but 2 80's would be much better (airflow wise, and looks)

I realize that. I'm not too worried about how much metal is there. I'd probably only do one 120mm fan anyway.

As for the grill in the front. All the OEM grill's would be cut out anyway. I don't particulary like them I feel that they are restrictive.

The case my 120's are in now was designed for 80's as well in the back and front but I managed to redesign it enough to afford 120's where the 80's used to be.

What size is the CoolerMaster ATC?

*EDIT*
Yeah, I just looked at teh CM ATC and yeah, it's definitely too small.

yep, Chenbro Genie....$89 if Jim has any stock> http://www.coolcases.com/cases/sr104_s_p1.html
Now that is what I'm talking about.

It's ugly as sin but I don't care, it has all the features I'm looking for. It's big, the PS is mounted on it's side has a lot of room. It has no window which means I can add my own. And I can add as many damn fans as I want cause it's so freakin' large.

That's the case I'm getting. Thanks bro.

Time to start planning out my mods and to get some paint to paint that thing.

Thanks again.

how the hell did you run out of room?!

i have a standard mid-tower Lian-Li PC-65B, and it has:

- 6 hard drives
- 2 optical drives
- floppy drive
- media card reader drive
- 3.5" custom baybus for lighting
- 20x2 matrix orbital VFD in 5.25" bay

oh don't let me forget:

- custom watercooling with Derale rad, 2x120mm fans, swiftech water pump, custom res, and waterblocks on CPU and GPU.

all in a mid-tower case. so, let me ask again:

HOW DID YOU RUN OUT OF ROOM?! do you have 10 hard drives or something?! please post details on your current setup - I AM CURIOUS AS HELL! :)

It's not as large as I originally thought it was.

It's not deep, only about 15.5" deep.

It's narrow as hell, 7.3" wide.

And it's not that tall, 17" high. I was being generous with my numbers on this case in my original post.

I've got a 550W powersupply with a lot of wires not to mention the PS itself isn't exactly small.. I just installed a CoolerMaster CoolDrive6 in one of my four 5 1/4" drive bays. My XP-120 takes up more than half of the empty space I had. The CoolDrive6 takes up the rest of the empty space. I've got 5 120mm fans INSIDE the case not to mention the 120mm X 38MM fan mounted to the XP-120 so, make that 6 120mm fans that I have inside the case.

The 6800GT is large and takes up quite a bit of room. The floppy drive (not that I ever use it) takes up one of three 3.5" drive bays I have a second HD that takes up one of those bays as well. I also have a Zalman ZM-MFC1 fan controller (not that it takes up a lot of room but it does take a 5 1/4" drive bay). Then I've got a Memorex 52X32X52 CD Burner plus a Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum Pro card (it's not that big either but takes up some room).

My case looks big but there's 1/2" of plastic that does nothing.

That's why I've been looking for a larger case.

Cooler Master or LL ......i prefer Cooler Master myself....but to each their own.

LL is overpriced and I don't care for their style.

Cooler Master didn't have anything in my price range.

I did like the Chenbro Genie. It's big and is waht I'm looking for. Now, while it may not have the style that the LL or any of the Mainstream cases it is large and functional and leaves plenty or room for mods and case design.

I'm not exaclty one to follow suit with everyone else.

Hell, look at my car. While everyone is switching their transmissions from sutomatics to manuals cause manuals are mainstream I'm spending money on educating myself on how automatics work and how to make mine faster.

So, I could actualyl care less about how a case works, as long as it's big enough for what I want it for I can change how it looks.

This way, I can feel like I've done somethign and be proud of it. Instead of spending $250 on a LL case with a window already cut into it. I can spend $80 on an ugly ass Chenbro and make it the way I want it.

Nothing wrong with wanting to save alittle cash.....100$ still get you a LL or a CM if you look on the boards you might find a good deal. I got a Praetarian for 70$ local.

If you want something new then maybe look at Cheiftec or Chenbro...i belive they made cases for Antec...so its pretty much the same case at a cheaper price. No Antec logo on it....im sure you wont care. I had a Chieftec Dragon...which is a great cast. Lots of room ....I got it with a 120mm fan for a intake. The person i bought it from used it for a water cooling setup so you cut out the front to get a 120mm fan in there.

Chenming is the OEM for Chieftech & Antec. I have a Chieftech Matrix with W/C setup, cut out the front so the Rad & 120 would fit. Lost the lower HDD bay though.. :D

Hey Moose, talk about ugly...I picked up a LiteON FS-020 about 5 years ago, a lot of peeps thought they were fugly, but I managed to fix mine up enough to please me. It's had a W/C setup in it for 4 years now.....wish they were still available. I also have 3 Chenbro Jrs, 2 with W/C. I've painted the interiors with Rustoleum Metalflake & used the same paint to 'highlight' the front bezel......have the urge to build another system, might see about a Genie, but the Enermax CS-718b has kinda caught my attention :)

Good Luck!

Hey Moose,

I have that case that you're picking up. It's pretty good. Very solid, and lots of room for creativity. You've inspired me to re-mod mine! (Time to hunt down some Mesh me thinks!)

That Enermax CS-718b is kind of nice, but still too anrow for me.

I'm gonna get teh Chenbro Genie. I'm about to order it now. :D

Since I work in an auto parts store I have at my disposal plenty of fancy paint too. Today while I was at work I was looking at what colors I might paint it. But I think in all honesty I'm going to wait to paint it till after I get it here and I start modding it.

Man, I'm excited. hehe... :D

*Edit*

I just found this case.

Chenbro Black Workstation : 20.6"D x 9.3"W x 21"H

It's $209 from Newegg.com, http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=11-123-071&DEPA=1

I really like it. It's wide. Too bad it doesn't really afford me much in the way of my own personal creativity because it's already got the window in it. I'm sure once I get it I can change a lot because it'll then be in front of me.

I'm going to keep this one and see if I can find a generic looking case that's as big as this one.
