I am really needing something new to play.

I am currently on my third run through of DeadSpace 2, that's how desperate things have become....and I played DeadSpace1 twice just recently....I am not fond of the third person, but DeadSpace was just different enough to make me forget that.
Didn't like JC2 at all.
I am a FPS guy through and through, I am not fond of multiplayer.

I have played just about all of the games out in the last two years.
I do not wish to play Crysis2.
I do not like MMOs.

Suggestions are welcome and appreciated.:D

Have you ever played AvP 2 ? Or Clive Barker's Undying ?

Oldies, but tremendously good in single player IMO. Both are on the top of my list as most compelling storylines, only bettered by Morrowind.

If you haven't played Batman: Arkham Asylum, get it now. One of the best games I've played the last few years. Another would be Fallout New Vegas.

Moon Base Alpha;)

In all seriousness not sure what kind of fps's your into

do you like mindless reflex fps games like cod, rpg fps games like stalker, midline some- what team play orientated games like bc2, or do you like the hardcore tactical fps like bf2 pr or arma2?

and yes as stated below, stalker is the best fps series out there.

Echo the Stalker comments, totally forgot about that...Make sure you install teh Complete mods.

Thank you.

I did all the STALKER games...."don't just stand there!! Come in....!!!"
I have BFBC2 and played through a bunch of times.
I have played ARMA.
I have played AvP and all the Fallouts.
Played the requisite CODs, HalfLife...... where's my episode 3??
Played FEAR(s)
Played Borderlands.....alot.

I have not picked up Batman, primarily because of the third person.....but that looks like a good choice.

Seriously, go pick it up. I'm primarily a FPS player too, but a great game is a great game. It's easy to get into, pretty good story, tight gameplay, stable as all hell, and most importantly, fun.

EDIT: Oh and the voice acting is some of the best in any game ever released.

Batman is good, so is Riddick. I´d pick up Witcher 2 as well. What an amazing game that is....

Don't waste time posting here, go play Batman:AA. Seriously, go.

After that, get Minecraft and play on [H]ardcraft! :D

Singularity is on sale this week and it's pretty good.

I played it, and yes, it was fun.....I had to use the texture mod, which was easy to install.

Pretty fun game.....action all the time.

It looks like Batman is leading in the voting.:D

Bioshock is an awesome game with a great story, if you haven't played it. I never made it all the way through the second one, but that was mostly due to a reformat.

Echo the Chronicles of Riddick games. Great mixed FPS-style games.

If you don't mind turning back the clock, there are a ton more that can be suggested.

Batman is a good choice.

I didn't see any comment on the Portal 2 suggestion, though. That's a DAMN fine game. On the short site - about 10 hours. Oh, and you do need to play the first one to get some of the context. Still, it holds up quite well and is very cheap. First one was about 6 hours to play, IIRC. So 16 hours total, if you hadn't played them before. Totally, totally worth it.

What about 'Oblivion'? It's decent. A lot like Fallout 3, but...fantasy. Skyrim, coming out in the fall, looks to be a nice new entry in the series.

I'll third (fourth?) the recommendation for Bioshock. Dunno about the sequel, but the first was good.

Mass Effect is another good choice. It's third-person, too, but really the combat is not as big a feature of it as the setting and story.

Lately I've enjoyed Metro 2033 (got in a bit late on this one, but it was very fun.) I'll echo Mass Effect (any) if you haven't played them. Brink is fun if you're into the team based thing, and they seem to be working the bugs out. I don't have any problems with it at all.

And then, what I project to be my biggest time sink in some time: Terraria ($9 on Steam.)

thanks.

I've played Metro 2033....great game.....sort of like STALKER but awesome graphics and no bugs like STALKER.

Bioshock.....played it, good game, good story......never got to the sequel.

Mass Effect......too RPG for me.

I'm waiting for RAGE.......until then, Duke and FEAR3.:D

While it is multiplayer, might want to take a look at TF2. It is not near as serious cat about things as many of the modern combat style games. Serious Sam HD series is also good fun alone or in a group.

But... Supreme Commander (gold - includes the FA expansion) can be had for 10-12 bucks. The solo play is solid, and can be good fun with buddies. RTS. One of the better multi monitor games, if you are running dual screens. Missions can take hours.

Serious Sam 1&2. That is all.

Played 'em...........fun run and gun.:p

Played it a while ago.....much fun, some real serious players there sometimes. I'm not much into multiplayer though.
Thanks however.

League of Legends, it's free to play, and there is a big ass thread on the game.

My son plays that. Looks like WOW. I understand it was a Warcraft III mod.

DotA was the Warcraft 3 mod, sir. League of Legends is derived from the same basic gameplay experience that DotA provided, only it's not on Warcraft 3, and the only real difference is different heroes, items, and skins and whatnot.

it's really fun.

We all hang out in channel [H]ard on there, there's quite a few of us who play throughout the day.

I have like 75 people on my friends list on there, you're welcome to join us.

Batman Arkham Asylum was awsome
Arkham city is due out later this year so you can be prepared for that.

Batman was great. If you want an FPS I might suggest the very underrated Alpha Protocol. It was very good and can be had on the cheap and begs for multiple playthroughs. You and I could end up playing and getting completely different stories based on our choices in game.
