I need a Free Burning Software without ads and stuff like that. Its just to burn files to Dvds, not movies. I know that Burn4Free is good but I h8 their ads lol...

thanks

ImgBurn is great. Its free and it can do it all. This should be in the General Software section.

Buying nero seems worth it to me... Or buy a dvd+/-r drive that comes with nero.

imgburn is good, but nero is much better

Nero that comes free is crap. I emphatically warn people not to install that junk. The bundle that you pay for is good but is irrelevant to this discussion since OP was asking for free.

another vote for ImgBurn. I've been using it for a couple years now and it'll damn near burn all formats (if not all).

I'll second the fact that Nero is really bloated and not worth the actual investment compared to ImgBurn.

Agreed, nero 8 is absolute trash. The software has gotten progressively worse since version 5.

I believe Ashampoo Burning Studio 6 is now free, after they released version 7. I've been using Burning Studio since v. 5, and have never had a problem.

You can install Nero 8 with just Nero Burning Rom, and not all the other 20 applications it comes with. That's all you need anyway.

I'm so used to Nero, been using it since version 5. Still on version 6 on XP.

Since Nero 6 doesn't work on Vista, I tried 4 or 5 burning programs on Vista x64. None of them worked as promised. I just wanted to burn some WAV files as an audio CD, and it never worked. I installed Nero 8 with just the burner program, and it worked perfectly. Nero wins.

I recently ditched Nero altogether for CDBurnerXP. Free, simple, gets the job done well.

No offense, but this probably falls more under PEBKAC

Haha! Yeah I don't know what the problem was. I had a WAV file I wanted to burn as an audio CD in Vista 64. I tried to drag it into Windows Media Player (yuck) and it said invalid format. So I downloaded CDBurnerXP and others. Still couldn't get it to work. I was in a hurry... I was cutting music for a choreographer friend of mine, and he was heading to the airport to teach... I had to get the CD burnt!

I guess there was something funky with the WAV file... but I've been cutting and editing music for 11 years using the same process, and always burnt the resulting WAV file with Nero.

But anyway, Nero 8 worked on Vista 64, and all is well. I only installed Nero Burning ROM, not all of the other crap. Is Nero still considered bloated if you only install one application from the package?
