I need an external floppy that is usb based (is there anything else :p ) and I need for it to be bootable..so I can use older bootable floppies... by chance are all external drives bottable or only a select few? Right now I am looking at this one will it do what I need?

it being bootable is an issue with your BIOS

example : my old gateway solo laptop cant boot from USB but my Soyo mobo's BIOS allows USB Booting

hmm...yes good point. perhaps drinking and trying to piece shit together should not be done :p
wonder if my NF7-S will let me boot via usb...dumb me

Unless I totally missed something, I'd have to say NO on the nf7-s.. Don't recall ever seeing a USB anything in the boot options on muh board. Doesn't really matter to me anyway - if I ever really need to, I can grab the floppy from my backup PC, and hook it up as needed. Then again, the Win BIOS flash proggy works just fine for me, and that's about all I'd need it for.

I think the equivalent setting is "boot alternate" or something similar in the NF7-S bios.

I am pretty sure it does. I vaguely remember getting my pc booted off a usb pen drive.
