I love it when a customer brings a computer in cause it won't boot Windows XP. Unit fails memory tests, but intermitantly passes, unit fails drive tests sometimes, not others, power supply is correct, and motherboard has no visable marks, 2 hours later I tell them it's a bad motherboard, and they complain it takes too long, and then tell me they tried putting RAM in backwards and gives a fowl smell.
I love customers who try to do there own CPU upgrade, scraping all the silver greese off the cpu, and right onto the pins, Bring a computer in as WARRANTY running hot, and locking up. The greese caused crosstalk, and scraping all of it off the top caused poor connection between CPU and HSF. Then complain when I tell them, thats not warranty.
I love customers who build there own unit, and begin by putting the Socket 478 CPU in 180 degrees wrong and bend the poop out of there pins, and then ask why they paid so much if all we did was strighten pins.
I love customers who have 8,000 Virus infections (more than two dozen different ones, not counting spyware, adware, etc) and then complain when I tell them only solution is reinstalling windows. Seems the customer thinks we should be able to repair all the Windows files. And no, he didn't even have SP1, or any updates since XP release.
I love customers who bring in a computer built by 'a friend who knows computers' and has 1 screw holding the motherboard in, a motherboard backplate for a different motherboard (covering the network plug), and not screwed into the case, but hotglued to the printer port. A hard drive mounted below the CD drive with one WOOD screw ont he same IDE cable as the CD drive. Floppy drive upside down, and mounted wrong. Power supply has 2 screws at the bottom, pushing the power cord in, bends it inward slightly. Oh, and it's a PC-Chips motherboard. etc. When I tell them the problems, they say I'm wrong, and we must have done it cause there friend is a computer person at a major company.
I love customers who drop, and step on their Sony Viao Laptop, then say screen is covered by Sony, no extended warranty purchased. When you explain it is not, they yell at you cursing the company name in front of dozens of customers and then call your regional manager saying YOU cursed at them. Which you didn't.
Man, that was a rough Tuesday! Gotta love customers like that.. Is it a full moon?
