i.Link S400 to USB2?

Hi,

Is it possible to convert i.Link S400 to USB2 with a cable? The USB2 is on an external harddrive and the S400 is on my laptop. If it were possible, do you think that it would increase transfer speeds as I'm maxed out by the USB2 rate, my harddrive can go faster.

Essentially, you would be converting IEEE-1394a (FireWire 400) to USB 2.0, a downgrade. Your choices are:

1. Get a new external enclosure.
2. Get a FireWire card.
 
he has a firewire card already, as he has the i.Link S400. (4 pin firewire).


Assuming that his laptop doesn't have USB 2.0, he can either:
a. get an enclosure that has firewire (and USB 2.0)
or
b. get a USB 2.0 PCMCIA card.
 
Ah, I thought i.Link referred to the interconnect in this case...
