How do you update your BIOS from Windows?

I have a Chaintech VNF3-250 motherboard and I don't have a working floppy around the house :) I know there's a way to do it via Windows with some utility, I just don't remember the name or how to do it :)

Personally I always felt dirty using the windows based flashing utilities.

I don't use floppies anymore and switched to bootable cds. http://www.bay-wolf.com/bootcd.htm

I didn't see a Chaintech windows based bios flasher on their website.
 
If your board doesn't have a Windows based flash utility, then your going to need a bootable device somehow. I love it when people get rid of their floppies without taking the time to see if they should! Good fun! I personally use my USB thumb drives to boot from.

How the heck do I boot from my USB drive? I have a 128MB one, would be simple to use it... :)
 
I wouldn't recommend flashing your BIOS in windows. Anything happens to the OS while it's flashing, and your SOL.

If you have a modern motherboard, the BIOS should probably have the option of booting from a usb device or similar in its boot options.
 
I've updated my bios from windows before with no problem. My floppies would never work, and so I got sick of trying, and just gave in to the evil that is windows based flash utilities.

You format it with the dos boot files and then RTFM your motherboard manual to find out.
