I know nothing about sound cards, please help

Well, my onboard sound isnt sounding too great so I figure I should get a sound card.

I'm looking to spend no more than $200. Whats the best bang for my buck?

Sorry for such a noob question, I just know nothing about sound cards and I'd like to find the best card besides just picking the one closest to $200.

I probably listen to music more than I do game, but I do both.

Check out my sig, I have the same speakers.

I have the x-fi xtreme music and listen to music 90% of the time, and game 10%. I love this set up. Xtreme Music can be had for ~$100, you could put the rest of your budget down for a nice set of headphones... that's my recommendation.

Yeah, thats the card I was looking at.

All of these other cards have external set ups which I dont really want, too much I think.
