I keep getting checksum errors when I increase the fsb to 240!

I'm trying to overclock and here's what I did:
HTT:240
Multiplier:10
HT:3x
Mem:2.5,3,3,7-1T
VDimm:+.2

Would not reboot and got a checksum error.

RamGuy over at the Corsair forums said that the memory I have should be good up to 250mhz and I may have cpu or mobo problems.

Ran memtest86 and got no errors but I only ran it for 8 1/2 hours.
Got prime95 to run for 12hours with stock 2.4Ghz/2.4.2.5-1T/+.2VDimm.

I'm guessing mobo. Opinions?

The highest ive been able to get my XMS 3200 is 224mhz, but I haven't tried much. I would be really happy if I could get it to run at 240...

What mobo are you using? An error like that is usually because of unlocked SATA or AGP/PCI ports.

GIGABYTE K8NSNXP-939 nForce3 Ultra

You got some nice #'s in your sig. You should put your mobo in your sig. Maybe I'll switch over.

I'm pretty sure the Gigabyte has locked ports... Check around xtremesystems.org in the stickies under the AMD section for specific information on your motherboard. I'm using a K8N Neo2 Platinum. It has its quirks as well (I got those errors when I was using unlocked SATA ports), but once you get around them I have absolutely no complaints :)

Unlocked SATA ports? How the hell does that happen?
Many nF3 boards have several unlocked SATA ports... you just need to find ones that are locked. Aren't the ports between the AGP slot and CPU locked usually?

If this was an issue with SATA ports, I think he'd be having trouble far before 240MHz FSB...SATA doesn't like being run out-of-spec by much before HDD corruption problems occur.

What does + .2 Vdimm voltage work out to be? 2.7? 2.8? You might need to up this, or you might need to really relax your memory timings. I'd try turning 1T command rate to 2T first, and if that doesn't fly, also setting at 2.5-4-4-8 or 3-4-4-8 timings just to see if you can achieve stability, before you tweak the voltage.

Yeppers, loosen the timmings and see how that runs.
I do not care what anyone says...250 is pushing it for 3200.

You talking about his ram? I've taken mine to 300 at 3-3-3. 250 is nothing for decent DDR400 if you loosen it up a bit. I didn't suspect his ram was causing issues because when my ram is too tight I don't even POST. When I got checksum and other OS related errors, it was my SATA problem.

Update: I've gotten to 250 with 3.4.4.10-2T! Can't cold boot off of that but I'm going to see if I can go for more tonight.

BTW Joe, thanx for the link to xtremsystems.org forums! Great forum!
