This isnt a joke. Tell me if i did something wrong...

Turned off computer, took out audigy2 card, put in the xfi card. Turned on, installed software from CD, restarted. Everything sounds fine, but i cannot get into BF2. It just shows the BF2 banner in windows then nothing happens.

WTF!!

Did you update the drivers from Creativelabs.com autoupdate yet? They fixed various issues apparently.

dont know, i used driver cleaner uninstalled my audigy 2 value. restarted. then install the X-Fi started bf2 and runs great...

Otherwise, how do you like you x-Fi? I am thinking about getting one and puttingthiss audigy 2 in my dads box.

Honestly, two words :-P get it, I love mine so far! I purchased one for my system and picked up one for my father, we both love the cards. My friend picked one up Saturday and he emailed me tnite to tell me all the things he loves about his as well. I dont have a single complaint :) Just make sure you update the drivers after you install it using the autoupdate function as theyre not yet listed on cl.com other than through the au function.

I cant figure out how to do this, what do I go into to autoupdate?

hopefully its alright if i link here? If not pls let me know and ill take it down, just trying to help out :) Shut off popup blockers and allow the active x control to install! Creative Auto Update. There are about 105 megs worth of updates already lol, i have to say Im quite glad theyre supporting this as well as they are though :) The packaged drivers were dated 7/18/05, for them to already update the drivers says something about their attitude of support for the X-Fi already.

OK i uninstalled everything, then went in with driver cleaner and wiped it out, restarted. Now BF runs fine, but with no sound obviously..

I am downloaded the basic driver @ creative website. Crossing my fingers

Do i need to install all the software too? I hate that crap.

Not really, the only software you really need to install is the audio console if you want to play around with settings. Fortunately its like a 10 meg app that has all the settings within it, i still like the gui from the other software though so I personally install the whole suite :) Its alot more responsive than the older software from the Audigy series so Ill stick with it for now!

OK it worked! it looks liek they just updated it today too.

So BF2 definetely sounds better, sounds are very crisp. But how much better I cant tell. The directional sound is definitely better also. Will spend more time with mp3s

ok i just listened to radiohead - everything in its right place

MP3s DEFINITELY sound better! all i need is a couple of

I just took mine back to best buy. In my opinion it wasn't that much better to warrant $129 price tag. The 24-bit crystalization sounds fake to me, basically sounds like the "loudness" button on crappy stereos, no matter what setting I used, it has too much bass, and too tinny sounding cymbals, and in games it was too much effect. The interface for the audio console is way too bloated and too difficult to change simple things like from 2 speaker to headphones, or even volume (if you don't have a media keyboard). The volume "knobs" are way too touchy and buggy, if you click on it and move your mouse down or right it increases volume, but sometimes it jumped up to 100% and blew my ears out. I guess I'm used to my audigy 2zs. If you want 24 bit audio for mp3s, get the in_mpg123.dll plugin for winamp it sounds better to me then 24-bit crystalization. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from buying it, but I like the simple controls of the audigy 2. They'll probably release drivers to add a system tray, but currently it's way too bloated and difficult to make simple changes for me to keep it. If you have a best buy go ahead and buy it to test it out, but I'm not that impressed thus far. Good news, I copied the drivers from the x-fi disk, and they also have updated drivers for audigy/audigy2 cards.

I went to autoupdate and it says my drivers are current there is no update. Except stupid mediasource plugins.. .... . . .

[F8].... did you have both cards installed at the same time?
I am wondering how much of the X-fi software worked with the Audigy2.....

Thanks, there seems to be 1 update that fails to install. I may start a thread on it later.
