i have a small problem...

im trying to figure this one out but i cant think of anything else to try.
this is on a machine that i use as an HTPC
I have taken this thing COMPLETLY apart, blownout all pieces o remove dust and reassembled 1 piece at a time and still have yet to resolve my issue.

I have tried:
determining that the ram isnt at fault by clearing cmos, booting with 1 stick and repeating formatted and reinstalled the OS as well
tried the CPU in a KG7-RAID

the issue:
the system had been locking up but i think i got rid of that issue on the last teardown and rebuild (crosses fingers)
the only problem remaining now is when the system is powered off, it will not power on without clearing the cmos. i hit the power button and everything comes on, hard drive kicks up and instead on a post, the system powers off. the KR7A Requires the atx power cable to be removed before the cmos can be reset so you can see why i want to find the problem(otherwise i'd drop a 3 wire switch on the cmos pins and call it fixed). I rarely reboot the machine and have been able to have runtimes over a month long without issues. currently its been up for 58 minutes which is a new record for this month.

• AMD Athlon XP 1800+ @ default clock of 1.53Ghz
• 2x256mb PC3200 Kingston ValueRam
• ATI Radeon 8500 AIW DV (w/ latest drivers)
• Creative SBLive! Audigy 1 (w/ latest drivers)
• Big Honkin' Alpha HSF
• 80mm Fans in every slot of antec SOHO case
• Winders XP Pro SP2

Have you tried flashing to the newest bios?

1. flash BIOS to newest revision
2. change battery
3. rma mobo (if still under warranty, if no, go to 4)
4. replace mobo

I forgot about switching the battery. That may fix the problem since that computer is old (Radio Shack should have the battery).

already had the most recent bios
swapped the battery just in case but that didnt work

but if i remove the battery the machine works but i have to set the clock every boot but at least now i dont have to crack the case every time

99% it's your sb sc.

call mobo mfg and ask about compatibility. switch pci slots till stable and switch irq 10 to reserved

It sounds like you might have a bad bios chip. If it's removable, ABIT will be able to mail you a new one for only a few dollars.
