I have a display question 5850

right now i have a very CHEAP emachine 1920x1080 Res Monitor that was part of a staples black friday deal. The monitor looks good but just isnt of Quality.

I want to buy a IPS monitor such as the dell 2209wa since i heard you can get it for 200 bucks. anyone know where i could get one? cheap

now my other question is. if i cant find the dell 2209wa cheap what other monitors are good that are not IPS. would like to stay at 200

i went with dell 2007fp's

they are 4:3 aspect and 1600x1200 / s-ips panels these can be found for well under $200

my reason was i didnt want to dump $1000+ into eyefinity displays only for something bigger newer hotter and better to come out in a year and here im already invested....

plus i could tell from the early adopters that games dont like ultra wide resolutions like 5760x1200 - im running a much more calm 3600x1600 which puts the aspect ratio closer to what games are expecting

it was less than $350 out of pocket for the monitors and it works just as it should...

turned in portrait mode i am more than impressed with my eyefinity setup - landscape, not so much... too wide, games dont work right without tweaks... plus i was coming from 1 37" tv so im used to having lots of both hor and vert

but ask a ton of questions / you're going to get different answers from everyone - especially those trying to justify their purchase

my setup works for me... it was cheap and i still got great panels in the deal... i noticed you wanted to keep things inexpensive so there's my 2c

the 2209wa, in my opinion isnt a good eyefinity display... its 16:10 yes but at only 22" you are looking at a very small vert area ... so if you turn them into portrait you're looking at maybe 10" [hor] on your main display area... too narrow
conversely if you keep them in landscape, again, you have a similar issue... lots of area left and right [hor], no area up and down [vert]

the flip side of this is going with what zorachus [amazing setup!] did and getting the big dell 27" monitors... that way, no matter how you turn them, youve got both hor and vert to spare - but again... that is a significant investment... my total was under $400, that wouldnt cover one of his displays...

hmm ok. your monitor is only 20 inch tho. im still going to try for the 2209WA. i dont want eyefinity. single monitor only
