For being so right!
Summer is closing and that means my 2nd self-built computer. Definetly wanting to do some interesting modding for this one. Anyways after being "decided" on a case for a month or so (Praetorian 730), I admitted to myself that it was going to be too difficult to sand the front of it and it just wouldn't work in the end with my plans.
So I looked at all the Lian-Li, Silverstone, and Coolermaster cases... still nothing. Although I currently own a Lian-Li and love it, many of their newer designs just seem too complicated inside with all the various stuff going through the case. I was getting discouraged and about to start a "help me choose a case" thread, when I remember the Antec P180.
And now I'm looking at gettin one of them. So far, everything looks like it's going to work out fine, although the painting may be a bit tough. I'm thinking that it can be done fine if I put the planning into it. Most likely, I'm going to order the case from Newegg soon and RMA it if I don't think my mod is workable. It's tough to say I want to put hours and money into a case when I can't see it in person.
So here's my plans for the case:
1) Side window. I like the bolt on look with the trim, so I'll likely be going that route
Link
2) Paint exterior. I'm thinking glossy white, with the black plastic on the case possibly being a different color. I'm thinking red or green.
3) Paint interior. I'm leaning towards a hammered red right now, but I may go with a normal red.
4) Interior dress-up... lights, cable management etc. Whatever is necessary to make the job look good.
Anyone have any comments or ideas? And a review that was done recently would be nice, since the P180 seems to have had a few changes since it was first manufactured. My main concerns right now are how hard will it be to paint the black plastic exterior, and how hard will it be to paint the interior (to what extent can the case be disassembled?)
Thanks in advance for any comments/help
