I really hate to start another thread, but I would like some help on selecting a good LCD panel that matches me, I've heard lots of Dell panel love here on these forums, but honestly I'm not sure if they're really the best match for me, plus I am not sure if there is any way I can find a good LCD panel in any sort of computer store for me to test drive to see if they work for me.
Anyway If it was up to me I would honestly stay with my Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 930SB screen, but sadly its four year old and developing flickering problems, I sometime get white lines scrolling up and down the screen, and it has a severe gauss issue, that it gets out of whack badly, and occasionally I get a bad session of flickering and shuttering, so I'm recking that it's dying so it's time to get a new screen, and this is the perfect time to upgrade to a bigger display or something else.
Anyway I've done my research and I've found a few possible screen that I think might be good for me, but it would be of great assistance if you guys could point me into the right direction on LCD panels after I've listed my preference and requirement and price range.
Main Use: - Listed in order by importance
1) Text Editing, mainly typing lots of homework, documentation and codding.
2) Photo Editing, mainly photo editing and digital pictures tweaking of the pictures from my digital camera.
3) Movie Viewing, I don't own an TV so it would be great to be able to watch some movies on the screen
4) Games, I don't play games much, but sometime its nice to fag a few people in ut2k4 or play some strategy games, but that's rare.
Requirement: - Listed in order by importance
1) 1600x1200 or greater native resolution, for wide screen it must be 1600x1200 or greater, 1600x1050 is not accepted.
2) 20+ inch display
3) Decent to excellent color rendering
4) Decent refreshing speed, at least fast enough that I won't have issue with text scrolling up the screen, and photo editing and some movie watching, I can tolerate ghosting in games, I'm not an competitive FPS player, I just play some to relieve stress.
5) Reasonable price, as in say $500 or less, but I could perhaps jump for $600 or so if its a real phenomenal screen!
Likes/Nice to have: - Listed in order by importance
1) VGA support would be great, if not included can use a VGA to DVI, I would prefer DVI but my integrated video card on the motherboard only provides a VGA output.
2) Would be great to be able to adjust the display as in raise or lower it, tilt it, and if its a wide screen version then also be able to rotate it.
3) Would be great If it can accept 2 signal from two separate computer and be able to switch between them.
Anyway I've done my research and found a few display that seemed nice, but I'm not sure about some of them, mainly the Dell ones because I've heard lots of quality issue, and I've been really spoiled by my nice Diamond Pro 930SB screen, it has served me very good over the last few years, so I would like something that is comparable or better with its quality.
The displays:
- Apple 23 Cinema HD
- Dell 2007FP
- Dell 2407WFP
- Viewsonic VP2030b
- Viewsonic VX2025WM
- NEC LCD2070NX-BK
