It makes the [H] look like a Digg whore.

I don't read Digg, or even know or care what Digg is, so I find all those extra links as annoying as popup ads and banner ads. However, I can filter popups.

Does the constant "Digg this, digg that" have to be in every news post? How about one digg link at the end of each review or article?

Thanks for your thoughts. They are noted.

If something gets dugg is gets an assload of traffic. Traffic = Money = keeping a forum up for you to gripe on. Not that simple... but yeah its that simple

Sometimes I feel a little like that, but I suppose I can't really complain, I think it would be better if it were well placed somewhere else. Probably only on the OCP site and the news section of the Forum and nothing else... But that's my 2c and I'll still want to congrats Kyle for making this site the place it is today. Congrats.

I digg this thread.

Ads, digg and intellitext can be annoying...but that's the extent of it. I then think of the feature rich content that pleasures my palate on a daily basis and say "I can digg this" :).

You'll learn to live with them.

Kinda silly to say "I hate this" when you don't know what it is.

If you have such a problem with "Digg this and digg that", why don't you just ignore the links? I don't have a digg account so "digging" stuff is meaningless to me; hence, I simply either ignore the link, or view it just to see the contributing article.

It's not some major forum-threatening thing here, it's a damn link in a post!

I hate everyone who posts about XXXXXX brand hardware, video game, computer case and...

Just roll with it. I'm sure there are many other things in life you don't like, and you find a way to live co-existing with such horrid things like links...

We all can't like 100% of things in life 100% of the time... except [H] forums. ;)

Nothing wrong with Digg. Digg leads to exposure to new audiences...b/c as we know, [H] already has a large, faithful following. The tough part is getting to the, shall we say, uninformed, who are still relying on other less credible sites.

I see it as a method of getting the truth out more than anything else. Plus I'm a Digg user :)

I should have added that I love the [H], it is my preferred site for computer hardware news, and that I read it daily.

If I can coexist with KodiakStar, we sure as heck can live with the linky dinky winky kinky stuff lol.

btw, KS, I really like you...not in that way though ;)

Maybe [H] has more clout, but I like them at TR equally.

TR had an article on digg being corrupt..

I only read Digg when I'm really, really bored. And that happens, so I'm fine with it.

I don't read Digg at all. It reminds me of slashdot times, bunch of hype and nothing ever happens.

Shouldn't you know what it is before saying how much you hate it? If you love [H], you should want it to get dugg often :)

Yeah I have to agree with the comments above. Hardocp looks like a digg.com whore...where some web-sites naturally beat hardocp in digging. It's as if its folding@home but for digg....we want to be #1 at all costs.

If you don't like how we run the forums and hardocp, feel free at any time to close your browser and never return.

I Digg this site! I find the Digg crap annoying aswell, however its a free forum. And for a free forum to operate someone has to generate revenue somehow. More power to Kyle for keeping this site up and running.

It would be neat if the vBull gurus that have worked on these forums could find a way to integrate Digg into the forums themselves somehow rather than having to make an announcement post about it so often. I think then it would be less obtrusive and get more use at the same time.

Why is it such a big deal? It's like an inch of your screen. Sometimes there are two Diggs, but that's because the older one wasn't taken down yet. You'll train your eyes to skip below the Announcements eventually.

Obtrusive? Are you running 8x6 or somethin'?

I think hardocp should integrate in to every article automatically. At the bottom of the article it will automatically include the link to digg it, and EVERY article on the web-site can be optionally dug.
Just how it says
"Comments" Steve 8:04 A.M

Add a "Digg This" under comments.

Like I said it seems hardocp can be a digg.com whore. When the 8800 card's came out...its like digggg this baby! But we don't care about digging everything....... as if it was a race to try and beat techreport.com.

I bet if every article had a "Digg This" under comments, digging of articles would go down overall except the ones that do deserve to be dug. For example how popular do you think "all your base are belong to us" could of got. We are made to be told when and what to dig by the masters from above leading the sheep. It is usually to maintain high status in the tech-review web-site area....you wouldn't want arstechnica, techreport, or some other web-site breaking news with the most digg's every day getting free clicks.

Digging is asking people to promote your web-site (and continue to increase overall value). It is like free SEO work, or free advertising. So you digg hardocp, and it keeps it on the front page, it is free promotion.

Get your brain fart idea to #1 on Digg, or slapped on Slashdot and your site traffic goes up, and your potential profit raises as well.

It is a genius marketing tool.....so much I think digg.com should charge for people who digg more then 12 articles a year.

I think putting a Digg button below every article is abusive. We only promote it when we think we have an article that would appeal to Digg readers. I think that brings our "whoring" up to a whole 2 articles this week.

Digg produces nothing and rides on the backs of all other websites to be successful, but if we try to use Digg to promote our content that we spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on year to publish to our readers free-of-charge, now I am the whore? I think maybe you ought to revisit your logic there...

You are also the guy that says this about hard working people in tech retail.

DO NOT EVER....promote working retail again you hear? Retail jobs are the scum of the earth.
Best Buy and other big box stores are the worst scum around.

You sound like a hippy whiner to me personally that wants everything for free and if someone is trying to profit off their hard work more than you can ever because of your lacking skills and desire, then they are the bad guy. But the bong down and get off the couch. ;)

I just don't get how a link would piss this guy off. I mean how many links to some ad or just some other tech source are on every web page all across the web. I don't read digg so I don't click on it. Sounds like you have too much time on your hands to be pissed at something as insignificant as a link. I would suggest finding a more fulfilling hobby. Good luck.

QFT!

digg it or don't.

Do you click on EVERY SINGLE LINK you ever encounter on a page?
No?
so why would a digg link get your underoos in a bunch?
