has any1 heard of a company called Gainward??? from germany......if u havent DONT BUY EM!!!! ahhh i got ripped so bad.......gffx 5600 blows the testicles of doom.................i bought it bfore i started reading this website alot and studying for my A+....so basically i was an idiot then......comparing to the same price card of every other company it is SEVERELY lacking.....if any1 else has a gainward share yer dispair with me :p and always remember to do yer homework!
 
well consider yerself warned......check out the specs on it compared to others.......its significantly inferior plus the fan is LAUGHABLE oh btw http://www.gainwardusa.com/products/vga_780dt_flash.htm theres the specs and a pic.....and there drivers SUCK ....i installed normal NVIDIA drivers and my 3dmark03 scores went up 100 pts................ya.....................i wish i knew bout ATI then :( i hate nvidia so bad now

im getting an x800.....im through with nvidia......never again...........i dont care there could be an honest 6800 ultra for like 50$ and id tell em to go lick it with the power turned on........not only for the fact that i dont like MY card....but jsut the fact that the hard burned parts of 3dmark03 onto there card.....thats sooooo low....i hate cheatersl ike that.....
 
Gainward makes some awesome cards...among the best. Just because you were ignorant enough to buy a 5600 in the first place doesn't mean you have to rip on Gainward.

All 5600 256mb cards suck no matter what brand you buy. My laptop 5600go clocks higher then them.
 
my friend got a gainward 5900 and the thing is a piece of crap dude......i agree some of there high end stuff is decent but there not among the best.....and its still no reason for making an inferior 5600 and selling it normal prices......im not complaining i just dont want any1 else to get ripped........i learn from my mistakes and ill learn from this ;D plus im savin for x800 as aformentioned so itll all be better soon :D

fan quit on it....for no reason....that and with and my friends scoring lower on 3dmark03 than he should......hes got a 64 3000+ and i dont remember the specific score i just no it was low......he hates it too and hes FAR more knowledgable in computers than i.....anyway i just hate the company.....and yes i was stupid to buy a 5600.... :D u live and learn
 
I have a Gainward GeForce 4 Ti4600...dual DVI, dual RAMDAC, VIVO. Never had a problem. It's been an awesome card from day one.

either way i think you both screwed up in doing research on cards. i have a 5900XTOC from BFG and it kicks ass i also have 2 and i repeat 2 gainward GF4 4800's with the works and never once had a prob with them
my friend lentic who also posts here has a gainward 5600 ultra one of the FIRST 5600 ultra's and he has had no problems with it at all. i think you need to chill out and next time do more research and stop bashing on somthing you have no clue about

Sounds to me like you're just Nvidia bashing but blaming it on Gainward. My last card was a Gianward GeForce4 Ti4200... the thing is still kicking today in my other machine, OCed since the day I got it. It's your fault for buying a shitty 5600 in the first place. And how is the 5900 a piece of crap? Everyone knows not to use the disk drivers, and to use the newest Nvidia drivers. I'm not one sided on this issue, because I'm running an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, and I love the thing. This thread is just coming off as straight Nvidia bashing and ATI loving. Go troll somewhere else! And while we're at it, go back to the 7th grade and learn your punctuation.

If the fan quit on it he should RMA it. If he can't RMA it then he should slap on a 3rd party cooler. Gainward does not make the fans. They are made by another company. Lower 3DMark03 score then he should? The chance of this being related to the fact that his card is a Gainward is null. Gainward uses the same chips as the other 3rd parties. Do as you wish and boycott them, but I think you would be foolish to do so considering they make awesome cards.

Just because you had bad luck with a certain board maker says nothing about the actual chip maker which in this case in nVidia. Alot of the board makers out there today make both nVidia and ATI cards. Gainward isn't one of them though. Next time try doing a little research and asking on a popular forum like HardOCP where people actually know what the hell their talking about. The 5600's suck in terms of performance no matter what board maker you would of bought. The 59XX cores are good performers though.
 
ok....im not checking this anymore.....this went from beyond me gainward bashing to every1 bashing me :D which i deserved but GFG LET IT GO!!! i was just complaining a little and mentioning stuff......and every1 is like A+ its so easy to get....did i say it wasnt??? all i said was i started studying for it.....becuase im not paying money to take a test and not at least study al ittle bit....EVEN IF ITS AS EAST AS A+ and thats when i developed my fetish for hating gainward....and for the record i STILL think they suck....and YES i no waht cisco is....im going for that next year.....i get vouchers since im in highschool and htey want us to get A+ certified bfore cisco......ccna=certified cisco network associate

Certificates are worthless. Dont waste your time getting them. Your not going to learn enough to piss in your pants. Stay in school and go to a good tech school or university and major in the area of computers your interested in. I'm a computer networking major and plan to go on into computer engineering most likely but i'm not positive yet.

EDIT: I was gonna say something else but i'm just gonna shut up now and go to bed before i get myself in trouble lol :D .

Im kinda in the same boat as you, but i already did all that certification bs in a tech high school, the certifications are meaningless, it is the knowledge behind them that is worth something ;) . If you do the certs the way they are meant to be done, you learn a lot.

i did all the certs myself to..and it is so true. it's about the knowledge behind them. but what counts is the years of experenise dealing with computers and trouble shooting them..

p.s. couple of my friends and i are playing eve right now and my brother says anyone who types everyone as every1 has to be stupid

With that kind of attitude don't expect to get help around here. You say you're lazy and typing like that takes less time/effort. If you're not willing to spend time addressing YOUR problem why should we spend our time trying to solve it for you? It would probably be a good idea to refrain from posting until you've matured a bit, you can expect similar responses everywhere.
 
I wasnt expecting help,was just being bored and posting,plus everyone was bashing me, thought i might as well join them. Ill make sure to use proper grammar from now since that was what most everyone was bashing me on,and it doesn't make me immature to type like that or make fun of myself. It just means i got tired of trying to defend myself and have everyone bash me more. I apologize for doing it though. It is my opinion that gainward does in fact suck, and i have always hated nvidia. So yes this was about nvidia bashing. I however did not know it was illegal to state your opinion or try to be in a jovial mood on this forum so i shall not from now on.

all the threads i been on i have not really seen any bashing on either card. Both right now are basicly equal with each other whatever card you get is going to put a smile on your face. It has also come to were we are trying to make a civilized forum no matter how much you hate a certin product or whatever...you help thats it. thats what we do here. Now bashing nVidia or gainward for your mistake is unnessary. i guess you can go off and hate somthing for your mistake but i don't understand that...oh well just next time think before you talk. and don't think with your ass either
 
As i said before i will always hate nvidia just for cheating in synthetic tests, to me that is extremely low, although i did hear about ati doing the same but not as bad, or something like that, anyway, i will always be in the opinion of hating nvidia and i should be allowed to display that anyway i wish, i do need to stop talking out my ass though,and i have stopped, i just tried to state my opinion and my happy about it in a non-serious way, however i realized that this cannot happen,because people get offended too easily. That and the fact its 3 in the morning and my vision is getting blurry and i dont know what im saying half the time, makes things hard to state in a non-serious way.

I had this same card. Had it for about 2 months, then had to RMA is because I was getting lines all over the screen. Some corrupted memory I believe. Sent it back, the next one did similar things. Tossed it in the garbage. Was a little more than upset for a third RMA.. I gave up. It was nice.. when it worked. Neither of the two cards were overclocked at all. I did however get a nice gainward gf3 ti200. That sucker overclocked to 270/575. I got almost 11k in 3dmark with my athlon in the sig. Awesome card. Got the x800 pro now, loving it a lot. :) ATI drivers suck though. Omegas drivers are the reason i'm keeping it heh.

Yeah My 4200 is a Gainward and it's been top notch from day one, despite being modded with a passive 'sink and overclocked :)

I'll be sad to replace it, but that won't be happening until the X800 or 6800 cards drop to reasonable price points.

i had a gainward gf3 that was pretty kickass...

i remember hearing their gf4's were lacking though... i suppose their fx's havent been too wonderful either.
 
Wow, you guys are pretty harsh. He does have a point, Gainward hasn't been too good since the GeForce 4 days. They were one of the best with the GeForce 3 line of cards (I have one to prove it), but they have had memory issues since the GeForce 4 line. I got their GeForce 4 Ti 4400 card that was supposed to be able to be OC'd to Ti 4600 speeds (warrantied to do it and everything). Before I had it a week the display went nuts and I had to RMA it. The RMA process was horrid and it took forever to get it back. It was fine for about 3 months, then had the same problem. I ended up having to RMA it again and this time, since Ti 4400 cards were no longer common, they sent me a Ti 4600 card as a replacement. Lots of trouble, but I finally ended up with a card that worked great for about 2 years. Funny thing is, I bought a Ti 4200 card while the other was in RMA status and it's never had a problem, go figure. I won't say that Gainward sucks, but they are definitely a bit lacking. I'd love to see them go back to building the quality cards they used to back in the GeForce 3 days.

BTW, unless things have changed quite a bit, certifications are still important. A great deal of positions in the support field have MSCE or A+ certs as a requirement. Yeah, I think the certs are pretty much crap, but a lot of times they're still needed, especially to break into the field... ;)
 
My main problem with Gainward is their confusing product branding.

They call Nvidia non-ultra chipstes "Ultra Powerpacks" then in the small print you see it says "Nvidia xxxx GPU" without the ultra. For gainward, "Golden Sample" == Ultra. Usually :p
