We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.

I hate ATI

no, they suggested that a little while back, which I did, and like I said, it's seemed to work.

To add my $.02 I think if you could try the following order of installation you may not have to turn down/turn off anything:

WinXP Pro
Sp2
Via 4 in 1 drivers
Go to Windows update and do all updates--some will require reboots, but most importantly the ATI drivers need the .NET framework and the Service pack for .NET framework installed BEFORE you install the ATI Catalyst drivers.

Latest Catalyst drivers

Relax. It's just a computer. :D :D :D :D

Dallows seems to have a lacking amount of kindness. It may just be me but he seems to jump down everyone's throat when something goes wrong.

Dallows, want to close the thread, tell a mod to close it. Report one of these posts and in it just leave a note the thread is done and can be locked.

I'm not jumping down anyone's throat, people just keep posting, some where a little off-topic, others just seemed to go on as if not even reading the previous posts.

So turning off VPU Recovery seems to have worked? Nice! Glad to hear that, looks like your life and mine just got a little bit better.

I READ the other posts man. I just felt that giving you my advice based on what I have learned about ATI cards and installation procedures may be helpful to you. My brother in law had the same problem and I didn't have to turn off VPU recover to get his working. I just followed the instructions I presented you with and for the past 4 months he has not had one hiccup. My personal feeling is I don't think it is necessary to turn VPU recover off.

But hey, you got what you wanted and you're happy right?

Look, I appreciate any help of course, but when you repeat something that I've tried a thousand times it just doesn't help. If VPU recovery isn't hurting anything by having it off, who cares?
