I got MMS today!

Ive been using MMS for what? the past 4 years? maybe 5?
Its really shameful that it took ATT and Apple this long.

It would have taken any network this long they could not just let the millions of iphone users start sending MMS without being ready for it. They needed to prepare for it and upgrade all their stuff.

Hate to break it to you, but there are far more Verizon users with SMS capability for the last five years than there are iphone owners. I don't think you realize, even the free dumbphones all have had this capability for years.

I have been sending and receiving with people on various networks including verizon.

same here, working fine for me. With the flood of people testing MMS I expected the network to bog down a little, but all is well. I'm posting this from my phone and even internet browsing is as fast as it has always been.

Ok thats fine but Verizon built itself up over that time. AT&T got the iPhone exclusive rights and gained millions of subscribers and were not ready for it. Id rather wait all this time and have them do it right personally....

iPhone users consume so much bandwidth as is, that I'm not surprised MMS wasn't available immediately. I honestly don't see it as a huge deal for a couple of reasons.

1. I'm more likely to email a photo or share via Facebook than use an overpriced MMS.

2. AT&T's network is strained as is, they really did need time to beef it up. They finally started moving to the 850MHz spectrum in my area increasing the range of 3g coverage. It takes time to cut through all the red tape.

I was a Verizon customer for years(still am on my wife's line), and even used an HTC Win Mo phone for a while. I can speak from personal experience, that my Verizon data moved about as fast as my AT&T Edge signal does out in the rural areas. Verizon shows EVDO-rev a in those areas too.
I get really frustrated with AT&T for glitches but sometimes I wonder if I notice them more because I actually utilize my phone. This is something that I was never encouraged or enjoyed doing on Verizon. I'm still probably going to join the Android club on Sprint, but I'm still open to other options including sticking with AT&T and riding it out.
If my wife is on-board with joining Sprint then it's a no brainier, we can get our plan / features much cheaper there.

All of my MMS failed for the first couple of hours if I was sending to someone outside of AT&T. Although, they've all gone through fine today.

Besides the lack of MMS support (which really wouldn't bother me so much at all since I never text at all) I am more disappointed that after 3 iterations of the device they still haven't gotten any type of background task support. I understand some of their concerns with doing so, but for me that would be the biggest reason I'd question calling it a smartphone. Especially in this day and age it seems like a gross oversight to have left that functionality out. Although this is Apple we are talking about and they aren't often as concerned with functionality as they are asthetics and creating an experience.

when i got mms on my iphone i was extatic until my friend with a razr said he has had mms for years. sure shut me up

mms in itself is a fail since it takes so damn long to send those picture messages anyway. If its for people in the same network its pretty fast, but if your sending to a different network = fail.

Never cared for mms then nor care for it now..though at least i can pictures of girls making asses of themselves ftw...only good thing about mms

i've tested it with a friend here at work who's on Verizon and the MMS went through just fine. took about 5 seconds.

Yup.

I've sent probably over 20 photos since Friday to friends with various carriers, ATT, Verizon and Sprint. Every one of them has received the message within seconds. Of course, since we live in the best city ever (L.A.), we all have great coverage. ;)

I tested it earlier last week using a manually-installed carrier file and it went through quickly. Friday it took up to 30 minutes to send out MMS messages, and Saturday it took a few seconds. All messages were sent out to various carriers' phones.
