Wtf can I do here? I have an E8400, MSI 750i, 2x2gb PC1000 and a corsair 620

Max oc = 1400 fsb. 3.2 ghz lol. Nothing works beyond that. With the multi locked at 8 how do I oc? There is no power options available in bios the smartstep or w/e does not exist. something is holding me back but I have tried every oc trick I can think of with the ram, fsb etc..

Help or should I just get a P35 chipset? Kinda want an sli mobo but at this point I do not know what to do.

Stock multiplier on the e8400 is 9...default is 9 x 333= 3GHz.
I have no idea why the 9 multiplier is not available on your BIOS.

lol it is 9 sorry. had a 6750 in ther last night. still can't do more than 1400 tho.

MSI 750i

Got any friends to lend you their p35 motherboard? I would start there to rule it out.

We can't really help you if we don't know what you have already tried. So, what have you done to OC? :p

Set your ram speed to very low and your CPU multi to x6.
See how high the FSB on your motherboard will go.
Once you know that, try clocking the ram and see where it stops.
You can then move onto the CPU.

During the tests, you will find what is limiting the overclock.

Let us know your PC specs, especially which PSU you have.

Well, don't feel like you are the lone ranger. I am very dissapointed so far in this board. I can barely do 2.8 stable with my q9300. After reading that thread at hardware zone, the only thing I see different in his bios settings is the PCI-E setting at 101. I'll have to try that when I get home and see if it makes a difference, though I doubt it will. I have tried all the bios's I could get my hands on. Right now I am running the P04. These are the ones I have tried:

1.0 Shipping Bios
1.1 From MSI Site
1.11beta From Hardware Zone
P02 From Hardware Zone
P04 From MSI Forums

Out of them all, the P0* bios's seem to do the best with my q9300. Unfortunately, all are still lackluster. Just waiting for that magic setting or bios to kick it into high gear.

Do you know what the max FSB your board can do, have you tested it with slow ram and cpu?

I'll give that a try as well Nenu... post later when I get home and have a chance to test it. I keep forgetting you can run out of sync. Used to thinking Intel chipsets.
