So I finally had to reboot and my 5.91 install expired. So i uninstalled it and then downloaded the MCIPH version of SMP. Ran the installer and then ran the install.bat from the command line and it said we're good to go. Tried to config the client the first time with no client parameters, download core82 which isn't right. Stop the client, delete the config file, work folder, and queue, and put -smp in the client params, same thing. I got core82 again. Make a shortcut to folding exe, add -smp on the end. Fire up client, says -smp in my arguements at the top, reconfig for like the 6th time, STILL get core82!

What am I doing wrong here? I can't find the new thread to install this newer client. :(

I think you also need to delete the registry key in HKLM\Software\PandeGroup, work folder and queue.dat to grab a new workunit.

That did it! Back to 2665, too bad i lost the work i had do earlier :( Oh well, we're back up and running.

The truth is that’s not a bad idea anytime you reinstall or install new folding clients.

I brought this up a number of years ago and it almost got put into a guide. The problem is / was that not everyone should go poking around in the registry. Also, in Vista you must be doubly vigilant because there is a back up within the main registry. Another key is doing a search on the word “folding” or “fold”. You will be shocked at how many times it appears.;)

Don't feel stupid. Credit yourself for stringing yours along without restarting that long. I wish I could say the same. I had to upgrade.
