I found out my PSU isn't enough to power my 7900GT.. It only has 18A on the 12V Rail.. I was looking at another powersupply thats says its 12V @ 29A.. But it had two 12v Rails.. If it says the 12V @ 29A, is that total power? I need a PSU that can power this damn card because I'm bout to throw it out the window.. I just bought the PSU I have only to find out "Its not good enough" to power this card now :(

Any ideas ? I dont want to spend a fortune.. The one I was looking at is the Thermaltake Purepower 500W

That psu has a total of 29v on 2 12v rails. Me personaly I would not get that psu or any Thermaltake psu for that matter. Seasonic, OCZ, and Corsair psu's are your best bet. Anthing over 500 watt will give you some headroom as well.

Complete system specs, please.

The OCZ GXS 600W for about $100 & the Corsair 520W for about $110 would be my recommendations.

It is just crazy that your recommending those supplies. For a 7900GT? The 400W Enhance ENP would leave some headroom, and the 450W (around there) PSUs I recommended leave some more space for OCing.
 
You can get the OCZ 600 watt for about $75 after rebate. Well worth the $$ and it's a bit more future proof as well.

I did not say he need a 600W PSU.

Any good PSU is going to cost around $100 so the OCZ GXS 600W is a very good buy, with room to grow.

No doubt in my mind that this PSU can power his system with ease. Under $60 as well, if he wants extra room to grow then we can do that as well.

80+ version for a couple bucks more. Can handle his rig in SLi with a CPU upgrade and many more HDDs. Has much better quality, cheaper price, better manufacturer, and higher efficiency.
 
Why do you want to recommend the lowest power possible PSU?

His current PSU is not enough.

He must be a gamer as he has a gaming GPU.

In the future he will probably want to upgrade.

So recommend a PSU that is a "Best Bang for the Buck" & has room to grow.

The OCZ GXS 600W for under $100 fits that need, very well, indeed! ;)

So you recommend overkill just as a guess? Why wouldn't you ask "Are you going to upgrade to DX10 or SLi later on" or something similar? I recommend what I think fits the bill best, keeping price/quality ratio in mind. You saw what I recommended, and their is nothing wrong with it, they all would work great, and I mensioned that if he wanted to upgrade certain parts he could do so with X PSU. Give the OP an option at least.

his advice is correct, my 350W can handle a few drives and a v-modded oced 6600GT.
