I don't feel the difference

So i finally overclocked my A64 3000+
1.8 stock to 2.4.. 270 x9
DDR400 133x2
i just don't feel the difference.. is there a reason why?
 
Well what exactly do you not feel the difference in? Games, web browsing, boot times? Might try running some benchmarks and see what kind of difference you are getting. Lastly, if you don't think the O/C is worth it, why not drop it back down?

50 when i am gaming, and 42 when i am browsing web..
i just don't feel difference in anything.. yeah i know i don't need to over clock, but i can't buy the 9800 pro from newegg, cause its out of stock..
all i have is a geforce 5200 fx pci...
 
well with the gfx card bottlenecking you so much I wouldn't be surprised.

Since video games are so graphics card dependant you may not see too much of a difference either way.
 
would this be the place where i can ask u guys what gfx card u all feel is best for me.. thats under 200$
 
its prolly cuz your FX 5200 is limiting you in games. And in windows its the same for me. Iv underclocked my 3.8 Ghz p4 to 2.4 and i still dont feel much of a differnce in windows. BTW reason i underclocked is because its getting too hot, but my few fan and case is coming in like 2 days :).
 
i am planning on getting a new heatsink.. what's the temp u are getting with that?
and yeah i feel so too that the 5200 is limiting me..
 
I only notiched a difference in games that used to bog alittle at stock settings and smoothed out at OC settings. Thing is the amd 64 is REALLY efficient even at lower ghz speed. I remember when i replaced my mobile xp @ 2.5 ghz and even at 2.0 it smoked it like no other! :p
 
The 5200 is simply screwing you in games. In general usage, you're probably not stressing the processor at stock speeds enough to notice a difference in anything; the differences would only be shown in benchmarks.
