here is the deal, I was using my comp. I thiouhgt it was getting a bit hung up occasionally so I decided to restart! well you know how your computer monitor kinda goes to sleep for that split second between restarting, well it won't stop "sleeping" I have tried changing monitors, vid cards. I have also noticed that i am not getting my post beep (although I am not sure if it really ever did). So I removed all but my vid card and my proc. then I clear bios and then reseat my proc. beep code finally. then I replace the other components (hdd' cdrom and ram) NO BEEP so I take those parts out guess what NO BEEP CODE, then I tried swapping the power supply (a friend told me to try it) still didn't work so I don't know what to do

I have:
asus p4s8x-x MB
120GB HDD
cd-rw sony
512 ram Kingston
P4 2.6ghz proc
and of course cooling (couple of fans)

If anyone can help in anyway I would greatly appreciate it. Right now I am stuck using Linux (NOT that I don't like it I just am not accustomed to it also it is on my old comp so I want to be able to use my new one )

I tried reseating etc. well with the processor removed I get beep code but with it in now it won't give me beep code
so I think it hato be the proc.

how long are proc.'s warrentied I have had mine since november and it was most defenatly not overclocked and had a fan going at all times
(I was supposed to be running at 2.6 ghz but I tried with all my might to get it there but was only able to get it to get to 2.06 so I didn't overclock)

any help still????????
 
i dont have an answer to your question but my uncle was having a similar issue not too long ago. he said he would hold the reset button after starting the computer up for like 3 second letting the motherboard stabilize before letting go of the reset button allowing the hard drive(s) to spin up. this is not a solution to your problem but something to try.

dont pay attention to this post if a temporary solution isnt wanted. let me know if this works for you.
