Like many in this section of the forum, I've been looking for a new monitor. I'm using a very high end CRT right now, but looking for a flat panel to replace it with.

First, I was going to buy a 2407. Then the gateway 24 inch. Then I was considering some other options.
Then I went back to a 2407.

Now I hesitate. It not having an HDMI input is irritating! I want to buy a PS3 again, and connect it to the monitor. I wish it had either 2 dvi's, or a dvi + hdmi like some monitors have.

No monitor is perfect, but I'd be pretty happy with the 2407 I'm sure. I'm extremely familiar with it.

Is there another monitor I should be considering? It's worth mentioning that I do work for Dell, and as such I can save a little money on any monitor that Dell sells, even if it's another brand such as a BenQ or Samsung.

You should consider the Hyundai W240D...

Check out the specs at:
http://www.hyundaiit.com/Eng/product/GoodsView.asp?GoodsCode=83&BigCode=B101&MiddleCode=M102&SmallCode=

Seems promising, and it has the following inputs...
Component
VGA
DVI (HDCP)
HDMI
and USB ports

Not too bad... i'm trying to read more about this monitor but it seems quite new and no one has been able to really review it yet.

Just thought you might be interested in this one as well...

Some people think the stats on Hyundai's site are a misprint and that it is using a TN panel and has a 160 degree vertical viewing angle.

You can see here that it is using a 24" A-Si TN TFT/Active Matrix...

If you work for Dell then I would use your employee discount and get a 3007WFP-HC as long as your comp is up to the challenge. (as in...probably not a Dell unless you have a high-end XPS) ;)

I think that both parties are right on this issue. For one... the Panel type is a TN panel. the added "A-Si TFT Active Matrix" refers to the polarising sheets and cells of liquid crystal, a matrix of thin-film transistors (TFTs) to make a TFT LCD. Ususally TFT are used for constructing an active matrix so that the two terms are often interchanged. Two down... one to go... as far as the "A-Si" refers to the Amorphous Silicone used in LCD monitors. There is nothing misleading about Hyundai's specs. Most companies wouldn't use "A-Si TFT Active Matrix/TN" in their description unless it was a technology based trade show where the general public is generally absent. It would be too dry for them to understand and it would be redundant.

As for that image you provided... that is clearly from a trade show, which would explain why the redundant detail. Hyundai has used this description before...

So yeah... long story short... both parties are correct. It is a TN panel (See other thread regarding this monitor where they have an email response from a Hyundai representative confirmed it was a TN panel as well as the viewing angle.

Bleh... now i'm rambling

I'm REALLY considering picking up this monitor. It has everything I want, and the price is great.

I don't have calibration hardware, maybe I can pick up something from ebay and be a little better equipped to give my feedback on the display once I receive it.

I'm only waiting to buy the monitor because of finances, but I have this wierd feeling that everything the agent from Hyundai has told me is in the "too good to be true" stage.

I still have not seen any reviews on the monitor yet.

I'm in your boat all the way, i'm just waiting for some of my finances to clear up. When that happends, i'll be getting this monitor and a Ps3. Hopefully everything that is advertised about this monitor is true... if that's the case, the Hyundai monitor is going to be awesome.

Do me a favor.

Be sure to post some feedback on how you like the display when you get it.

It might take me longer to get a new monitor than what I originally had intended. The intel retail edge bundle is surely going to go live soon, and I'm sure I'd be itching to buy a new set of ram, gpu, psu, mainboard to go along with that intel quad core. :)
