Right guys and gals, rig is in sig. I can't get 250FSB, currently on 230 FSB and I recollect someone actually posting on this forum saying they couldn't raise they're fsb on a similar rig above 230.

What's happening is that the system POSTS and then goes on to the blank screen where it should say 4 lines of text at the top before the Windows screen appears. However, that screen where the text should be is replaced by a flashing - in the top corner....

Stock voltages, RAM at 5:4 with 2-3-3-7 timings. What can I be doing wrong ?

p.s I almost forgot, it won't go any higher than 230, so it won't do 2.40 neither :/

How similar was this rig? Yours will be clocked at 3.5GHz to hit 250 so that could be part of it. Also, I hate to break it to you but alot of CH5 has trouble hitting 250 at 5:4 even though its only DDR400. It doesnt like 5:4:(

I just flashed the board with the latest bios (1.4)

Raised the FSB to 240 and the CPU Core Volt to the next one up from 1.5 (hardly anything but I can't remember the exact digits)

Temps and voltages basically the same as they were before but now running at 3.3Ghz. :)

RAM is 5:4

(timings set to default - CAS 2.5 - 3 - 3 - 7 )

I don't know what's let me get past POST and onto windows, marginally upping the vcore or flashing with the bios but I have an inkling it was the new bios revision. I'm gonna test it for 250 5:4 in a bit...

I don't remember where, but i coulda sworn i read something about ic7 based boards and ch-5 ram not liking to use ratios together

Maybe try upping the voltage 1 more V? I don't know.

Can you possibly relax the memory timings? You'll lose memory bandwith, but you might be able to hit the higher clock speed.
