First of 3870 is much cheaper
second. I have gts320 currently
third thing. all benches I found sucks, those are done with old drivers etc.

How is 3870 compared to gt512 and to gts320.
Just should I get it ?

You havent said why a GTS320 isnt good enough for you so we cant really advise.

8800GT is faster and will be a real step up from your gts 320mb. 3870 512 is just a bit faster than a gts 320mb

Go for the 8800GT

What resolutions are you going to be running? If 1280x1024 then just go with the 3870. If higher than you should go for the 8800GT. How much cheaper is the 3870 anyway; I seem to see a lot of deals for the 8800GT for under $200. I went from a x1900xtx 512mb, which is pretty similar in performance to your 8800, to the 8800GT and it made all my gameplaying smoother and allow me to max out the settings. Another reason to go with the 3870 is that it should be quieter than the stock 8800GT, but there are also 8800GTs for sale with preinstalled aftermarket coolers. I think the extra money on the 8800 would be worth it.

IMO they are near enough the same, with the edge to the 8800GT, so get whichever is cheaper.

But I now notice you have a SLI MB, so go with 8800GT, if you had an intel MB I'd say 3870.

the prices of xfx are sub $200 canadian now too, I'd say 8800gt :) no way the 3870 can compete at the same price

I am going to use 1440x900 and 1280x800 mostly.
And here in poland 3870 is cheaper about 30-20% than gt

I'd say go for the 3870 then, but no reason why you should upgrade from your GTS, really.

at that resolution there isnt really any games that you will see a significant enough increase in, that when you install the new card(either one) that you are like "damn man my old card was a heap im so glad I just dropped $200 on a new card!" If anything maybe look at upgrading your cpu.

going from a GTS320 to a GT isnt worth it... yeah GT is better but not worth buying to replace GTS320.

If you do more than game on your PC, like watch movies, or download and watch HD movies then go for the 3870. I was in the same situation as you, but was lucky enough to get both cards for a two weeks to test out. The 8800GT is a little better in games, but, the 3870 is way better for movies. If you ever plan to hook up your computer to large screen LCD TV, then definately get the 3870.

GEt the 3870 and don't look back. IF your running Vista definitely go with the 3870. Their drivers are far more mature and framerates Only make a difference only certain games and certain instances.
Heck I overclocked my 3870 and so far Rock stable and no heat issues like I had with my 8800gt SSC edtion from evga.

I vote for 3870 i have one of those and im pretty happy with it, a friend had an 8800GT and ive heard alot of crap about it (mostly cooling issues)...
