alright ive finnaly decided to start my worklog this will be my first and hopefully not my last well i guess i should start by saying this mod is themed after invader zim i know others have done things there way and they have seemed to be pretty basic mods im up for a good chalange and this case has been quite a project lol

well i the victim caseim useing is the same case Defyant used to make his series of HPR mods.

Oddly i picked my case up from the trash when i was out for a walk one night. It had all its working P2 parts inside just missing the cd drives but oh well enough about that stuff onto the pics.

the dremel made short work of the side panels.

the case was pretty banged up alot of stratchs and nics in the outer shell so it took alot of sanding and bondo but i god the job done pretty well

alright ive been able to etch both side panels this was my first time etching with the dremel and i dont think i did to bad lol but i dont mind critizism just dont flame me

for those who are not familiar with the show the characters on the window are Gir in his dog suit,Zim's precious death bee, Mimi who is taks cat (she is Zim's irken rival) and Zim's others side kick mini moose ( oh he's always been there) as zim would say lol anyways this will be the main panel looking into the case.

this side panel on the other hand will be behind the motherboard tray it's of Gir and Zim without there secret human disguise's

trust me i want to go all the way with this mod i have so many ideas right now but its way to late at night to work on the case i have to take more photos on the top panel and side panels since there all primed and wet sanded
 
heres what ive done with the top panel so far i cut a window out and etch a picture of Pipi the schools pet hamsters which Zim oddly mutates into Ultra Pipi and sets him loose to wreak hell upon the human race lol man he's twisted

and heres the side panels all shiny pissibly a lil dirty i need to find a good way to clean off all the primer/sanding residue once im done with the sanding and such

this is mainly for my GF she gotten fed up with the dell i gave her so i figured i would give her a nice comp before i ship out to boot camp lol United States Navy baby lol man im tired ive got tommorrow off from work so im hopeing to get the metal case frame primed and wet sanded and ready for paint

When I make my next case I am gonna put some cool JTHM art on the right case panel.

Are you gonna put some stuff on the top. What about Dib and and Gaz?
You will also need the desktop background that Dib has on his laptop. Doesn't it have to with
his paranormal soceity?
 
yea ive got so many idea its just hard fitting them all onto one casze without it looks cluttered.

I intend to add a NoodleBoy symbol some where in this case along with the Irken symbol; i just dont know where i was thinking of creating a cool power button with one of those symbols.

Well this case is for my gf so she has main say on which characters are gonna be added but it it looks good i will deffinetly over rule her lol.

I am think of doing a few things with the the paint the main colors i am hopeing to use are a burgandy,colonial red and a few green variations i just wish i had supplies for air brushing but thats way to expensive.

biscuits? i have no idea what you guys are talking about but this looks like the start of a sweet mod. after seeing defyant's work and how he can manipulate that case, i'm intrigued.
 
yera i love what he did with his cases but i also dont want to copy him with the same features and design so far its looking good so far

alrigth i recieved my UV green IDE and Floppy drive cables and Vastech 12" Dual Cold Cathode Kit UV and UV Laser LED im tring ti figure out where to mount the cathode switch
maybe where the old digicam port was on the case above the floppy drive bezel
 
alrioght sorry i havent been able to update this in so long ive been working so much ive been haveing problems with the paint :( ive aleady gone through 2 cans of burgandy and i need a third now due to some chips in the paint i guess i didnt do enough coats of primer in the bare metal but oh well whats done is done and onto the pictures.

these images where takeing whiole i was wet sanding so the peices look really dirty sorry i didnt have much time before i had to leave fo work

im not going for a mirror finish since most of the ZIM house its pretty dirty asnd run down lol miorror finish just wouldnt match the theme i like the flat color surface anyway
 
The side panels came out well i may add a few more coats to darken the green before i add the clear coat

One thing i was worried about when i was chooseing the colors for this case was for it not to look like something christmasy and yet it still does lol in the pictues that is.

Well heres what the panels look like so far on the case what do you guys think? my gf seems likes it so im happy for now lol

i wish i could airbrush this case so much then i would be able to add alot of things that would look so good like noodle boy symbols, the invader zim logo irken logo and those hose things that come out of the house and into zims neighbors houses lol
 
i hadnt thought of flame polishing the etchings but its a good idea i just have never done it before if i can learn how to them i just might if it will make them look good i dont want to melt the acrylic though
 
^ he prob. thought it was glass. if you took a torch to a piece of plastic pretty sure it would just melt and smell really bad
 
nah, you can flame polish acylic, you just have to be careful and not leave the flame on it for too long.

edit: it will smell really bad either way tho.
 
Smell would be the big issue since im liveing in a apartment which hinders this project alot lol
