hyperv sata drivers

I'm install hyperv on my test server

Msi m58x 12gb's ocz 1600, Per5/i 4x 15k 147gb SAS R1+0 and 4x 5.4k 1tb Sata R1+0 and a 74gb raptor of of onboard sata. My plan was to install hyperv r2 on the raptor but I keep getting an error that says "Unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the Setup logfiles for more information" I even tried to load the intel sata drivers during the install and the same thing happen.

Any ideas?

Or should i throw the install on the sas array? I rather not to keep as much throughput as possible. Or should i install hyperv on a USB drive? pick up a 16gb and do it that way? or will it be to slow? Or is that not possible. I know you can do it with hyperv.
 
I had this problem with 1 of my 30g raptors. Using another drive worked. For some reason that 1 raptor will cannot boot the OS. I ran the windows disk check on it, then I was able to get passed that error, but even after the install it could not boot from the drive. I still have no idea why as the other raptor works fine, and this drive works for my virtual machines, but not boot.

Try the array just to see if the raptor is the problem. Any install I have done with win7/2008, no sata drivers were needed. That is from the xp days.
 
yeah I ran a win7 x64 off of the raptor for almost 6 months before this. I gues I could pick up 2 laptop 120's and raid 1 them for the Host. Make it more redundant. Has anyone had luck with booting the intel raid and physical raid card?
 
I'm booting the hyper v installation environment from a usb drive. I do it with win7 and server 08 all the time wiht out problems

nvm... I figured it out last night. I read on a technet thread that disabling onboard audio helps for odd errors and it did.
