Folks:

What do the infrastructure guys think about this trend? These guys are putting storage in side the server to provide scale out architectures in a box similar to what the big cloud guys (Google, Amazon etc.) do internally. They seem to be doing well in the VDI space.

How do you think their scale out model will do when it comes to Big Data, Internal Cloud and other new IT initiatives?

Is the simplicity they offer worth the hype?

Will IT guys adopt such a solution?

We're a big EMC shop...so we aren't pushing it but I'm not seeing it come up anywhere. It's an interesting idea and VMware has its own play in that space coming so it'll be interesting to see how the others react to that. It's an interesting thought but increases reliance on some other downlevel infrastructure...like your network interconnects.

We use Pivot3 on larger builds.. for Security camera's and access control...

LOTS of interest in it these days - it's gaining ground and starting to become more common.

We use Scale in our data center for storage. Just deployed a Scale HC3 cluster for a local school works really well. The dashboard is very very easy to use.

We run AppLogic, and like it. Though we still have several XenServer boxes, and a couple EqualLogic arrays.
