Let's start by saying I've searched this forum and exerted my Google-fu to no end. I am a complete noob to virtualizing and have run into a problem that's kicking my butt.
I'll try to be as thorough as possible on this. I have a Dell Poweredge R910 with Windows Server 2008 Datacenter on it that runs our virtual servers. This works in conjunction with a Dell MD3220i SAN which actually hosts the hard drives for these virtual servers.
We already have 3 virtual Server 2008 servers running with no issues. We need to setup a virtual Server 2003 for some development testing. I've got the OS installed with no issues but it refuses to show a NIC for this virtual server. It does show a 'Unknown' device in the hardware profile, which I'll assume is the NIC sans driver. I've tried copying files over via USB and CD but the OS won't recognize them nor can I use them to load drivers from.
The initial OS install was with Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 SP2. It wouldn't recognize disc 2 of the install so I don't know if that's the issue here or not. I thought the only thing on disc 2 was the r2 extras but I may be wrong.
If anyone has any suggestions on where to start to get this moving I'd greatly appreciate it.
