Hyper-V R2 features

Hey,

I've been keeping an eye on Hyper V R2 because there are a lot of nice features that are hopefully going to put it on a similar level to V-sphere and Xen. Does anyone know if the additional new features will be applied to the original server 2008 via service pack or similar because I have a few server 2008 licenses and I'd rather not have to buy the upgrades if I don't have to. Alternatively will Hyper V R2 work with non R2 server 2008, so I could just buy Hyper V R2 seperately.

EDIT: I didn't realise you couldget hyper V R2 as a server only install I like that a lot. That probablyanswers my questions but I'd be happy for this to be left as discussion thread or just close it if you'd prefer.

Windows Server 2008 R2 is an upgrade from Server 2008. By upgrade I mean, not free. So, no the features of R2 will not pass down to Server 2008.

However, as you noticed Hyper V Server and/or (R2) is completely free. So, grab the dl and enjoy. I believe Hyper V Server is "core" only so no UI.
