Hyper-V causes sluggish performance?

Uh, there are plenty of people who run server OS's on dev boxes with Quadros, myself included. The point I was making was is it doesn't appear to be limited to "gaming" cards and it appears to affect "professional" cards as well.
 
A Dev box still isn't a server...by keeping tighter the supported hardware configurations in theory keeps the server OS more stable and reliable overall. And the main thing is with any desktop or workstation running a server OS is it's for training, education, or development...not production so I would feel lucky if everything worked fine and not surprised when it didn't.

I hope no ones trying to run production servers with 8800GTs or Quadros, and right I would assume it would affect everything that's trying to run accelerated drivers like that.

Have you missed the entire point of this thread? It's to start using Hyper-V and SCVMM in a test/dev environment so you can become familiar with it. Where the hell do you do your testing and dev work, in a full hardware replica of your production environment or at your desk with your dev boxes?

And yes, at my house, my dev boxes are servers and they use server hardware.

What is aggravating about some of the responses here is that instead of acknowledging there is a problem, we are getting the 'programmer' answer of "its not supported". We are essentially being told that we are the problem, not the software.

It's one thing to say it's a known problem and there just isn't a fix yet. It's something else to try and push me towards products that don't do what I'm looking for and say that I'm just really out there because I'm using manufacturer-supplied, final build drivers.

If this is the case, then why include the same drivers vista has in 2008?
