There won't be a Quadro or a fire card in a server either...
A Dev box still isn't a server...by keeping tighter the supported hardware configurations in theory keeps the server OS more stable and reliable overall. And the main thing is with any desktop or workstation running a server OS is it's for training, education, or development...not production so I would feel lucky if everything worked fine and not surprised when it didn't.
I hope no ones trying to run production servers with 8800GTs or Quadros, and right I would assume it would affect everything that's trying to run accelerated drivers like that.
Have you missed the entire point of this thread? It's to start using Hyper-V and SCVMM in a test/dev environment so you can become familiar with it. Where the hell do you do your testing and dev work, in a full hardware replica of your production environment or at your desk with your dev boxes?
And yes, at my house, my dev boxes are servers and they use server hardware.
