I'm in the process of planning an upgrade to either an i5-2500k or i7-2600k which I plan to overclock. I just bought this cooler last month for my Phenom II x4 955 and assume I can carry this over to the Intel build but I haven't bothered to check what kind of cooling I can expect on the new setup with this HSF.

Does anyone have any experience with this combo?

This is fine for Intel processors. Its a good budget cooler. You will not get the best temperatures however Intel processors are fine up to 100C (a little over that they will throttle to prevent damage) although 90C is a safe limit.

If you care about noise at all, the fan gets pretty loud at full speed. I swapped the stock fan out for a Noctua (which is quieter at full speed than the stock fan was a lowered speed.)

I use it with an I7 920 and it's not bad at all. If I were really pushing the OC (I'm sitting at 1.25V @ 3.8ghz w/HT) then I probably would want a bigger/more powerful fan, but this was just one I got to replace the original fan/heatsink after finding out the thing was hitting mid-70s in bad company 2 at stock settings.

I use this heatsink with my 2500k @ 5Ghz, 1.48v and temps generally stay below 80C unless I'm running burntest. I'm not sure what more you could ask for from a heatsink in this price bracket.

Loved my 212+, nothing beats its value! I did swap out the fans with some low speed generic ones in push/pull for a silent solution.

wow thats good considering my push pull kuhler 920 with an i7 @ 5ghz gets to low 70's and cost like 4x as much

damn
