Hey guys, i'm almost done with my first WC. Last night when i started to leak test my system (and threw some of the night) my L35 hydor sounds more like an industrial pump(you can hear it 20 feet away)Im using 1/2 tubing, 77 bonne, danger den blocks 6800, 478 RBX and a re-worked aqua computer res with 1/2 barbs. I had bubby that has done this alot more come over and help with some trouble shooting. He has not built a WC with the hydors but heard the same thing i did, that there is just a humm while the system is running. Any help would be greatly appreciated

is it sitting on anything? if you are using the stock suction cups remove the base and put some thing under it to damper the vibrations

Yes its bolted down and between the pump and the base of my case is closed cell foam and felt carpeting(i did most of the case like this sound dampening). Its on there tight and foam all around it. Maybe the DD 6800, RBX and big Rad are to much for the pump i'll keep trying though thanks.

hmmm...now ur making me think about the Eheim...lol

but anyway, is there a lot of air running through your system? when my via gets air, it makes a really loud almost car revving sound...

otherwise, i don't know what to say....but do u like the Hydor?

I thought i would like it, I found something out though. I saw a reveiw about the aqua computer res that im using. When they tested it they tried using 1/2 barbs instead of the stock 3/8 and i guess there was to much water turbulance in the system. To small of res using a high flow pump and 1/2 tubing i guess = loud pump and less flow. Also when they changed the tubing from 3/8 to 1/2 it actually got hotter. I already cut the case for the res maybe i can make a clear res and mount it where the aqua computer res WAS. Saw the review at gruntville.com if anyone wants to check it out.

so its just cuz the res is too turbulent?

well, if that's it, then okay, it doesn't sound like a bad idea...but I think i'll still stick with the Eheim...

well, good luck fixing ur problem!
