I am thinking of buying this pump to replace the internal pump in my reserator 1. I was wondering if this pump makes much noise mounted externaly. Thanks
 
I had a great exp with my Hydor. I never had it make noise, very quiet pump.
 
They are very quiet, especially if you mount em to some type of "foam" I cant find the right words. However several people including myself have had horrible issues with the shafts wearing oddly, causing the pump to sound like mini meat grinder. I remedied my buy ordering new impellers. Given todays high restriction blocks though the laing D5 or Swiftech 655 would make for a more future proof, albeit more expensive pump in the short term.
